Something Different - Header Cards...

Post by LosiXXkid »

While tidying up some of my RC related boxes, I started sorting out all my (predominantly) Team Losi header cards and was surprised at how many I had and realised that I have probably never thrown any away! So to see what they all looked liked together I arranged them all and took a photo....

Now, while I appreciate that some of you will have got through way more 'packets' over the years, does anyone else suffer this inability to throw the header cards away?

If I do a build from mostly new parts sometimes I'll keep them.

I have a whole stack of aftermarket part header cards from the cars I built as a kid...Lunsford, Composite Craft, Tecnacraft, Litespeed, RPM, etc. And I always save the ones I use in any build in case I need the part number in the future.

I keep header cards for when I rebuild a car if I decide to sell it later then I have 'paper work' documenting that I used NIP parts and I'm not being a sheisty used car salesman

I tried to hang onto all the non-stock header cards for my custom/resto-mod builds so that I know what parts fit which car, and can replicate the car or replace parts that break.
Completed projects: CYANide Onroad Optima | Zebra Gold Optima | Barney Optima | OptiMutt RWD Mid
Gallery - Coel's Stalls: Marui Galaxy & Shogun Resto-Mods | FrankenBuff AYK Buffalo | 1987 Buick GNX RC12L3

I trash mine as I use them! Oh the magical smell of 20+ year old cardboard, with hints of plastic resin, sometimes rust, or oil,,, little bits of printing ink smell,, all mixed up in one magical little card. When I rip them, some are soft, ready to be torn at the staples or the fold. Some are fresh as can be, and the staples give away first. One quick admiring glance, perhaps a brief read, quick wiff,, and in the bin they go.

Oh yes! Vintage header cards do have a certain 'aroma' and I'm glad to know that I'm in good company

I do keep mine but only for the more unusual or difficult to get parts. Good for part numbers and like skunk said its good to prove authenticity of a build.

Header cards are strange in a way. The old ones are mystical almost. I throw mine away but feel kinda guilty when I do. Weird, man.
