Gearing for a brushless 7.5 setup?

Just about done with my racer build and currently it has a peak racing 7.5 motor. What gearing do you guys think I should start at?

81/20 for a fdr of 9.1, good starting point.
(assuming you have a 2.25 stealth)

Ok, I realize what I am asking is probably depending on how I am using it.

I am basically using it for backyard bashing and such. (I wouldn't know where to take it to race)

But... I want it to take off...

Here is what I just tried and is getting close... probably a good battery would do the trick.

16 tooth pinion and 86 tooth spur w/ a 8T motor

problem is I lose the ability to control steering at WOT so I am guessing a good battery (maybe LIPO) and...

HELLO This is Don. THE Rustbucket.
I have a question that someone may be able to help with. I am changing my RC 10 gold pan with the stelth over to brushless. I have a 87 tooth spure, Also setting it up with a 17 .5 novak any add vice on pinions....

i have a associated t4.1 rtr with the stock brushless setup and was wondering how high i could gear it? I went from a 18t pinion to a 26t pinion and the esc and motor definatly run warmer then before but nowhere near dangerous. The battery however...

When ever you lower the gear ratio ( bigger pinion lower spur) you are pulling more amperage from speed control and battery and the motor is dissipating that energy in heat. If you have stock electronics be careful. I would stay under 23 tooth...

So has anyone experimented with gearing an RC10 for a brushless system? It's been stated that the 6 gear may not handle a brushless/Lipo system so well, but how have people geared the Stealth and with what battery/motor combination? I'm interested...

For BL setups, consider the Speed Passion setup. Im looking to pic up a unit through my motor builder (shameless plug: ) They seem to be very good and competitive.

At my local track, our vintage class allows for Lipo, but still running brushed...

I've tried to read everything I can find on brushless motors.
We have between me and my 2 step sons 5 brushless motors. Varying from 3100kv to 5700kv.
The middle son is very interested in RC cars and is always asking me things.
We talk alot about...

I have a HW 10.5 for my Bosscat. The motor manual says to gear for ~8.00 final drive. I can, or could, achieve this with 28/92, except 21 is the largest pinion that will physically fit with a 92 tooth spur. (I don't have any smaller spurs.) 92/21 x...

For future reference- Drilling a 5/8 inch hole through the center of the Cougar/Top Cat spur gear worked perfectly. It bolted directly onto the Bosscat slipper.

Ok as we all know I have the XX buggy.

The novak gearing guide suggests a 6.0 ratio for 2wd buggies with the 17.5 motor.

The XX tranny is a 2.19:1 ratio w/ an 84 spur.

So it would be something like this: (84/30)x2.19= 6.132,

Would I be able to...

I tapped the Spur gear holder, with a 6/32 thread tap, screwed in a 75 spur gear with 6/32 screws, cut the excess out of the other side of the plate, where it meets up with the slipper pad, and ground them down.

Bolted on the 17.5 with a 26T...
