Futaba Magnum AM

Post by slvrback »

Was just looking around youtube and saw a video on a "Magnum AM".Same square design as my pcm transmitters Never saw one. Really cool and had tons of features.. when did these come out? Before or after my magnun junior AM model. Wonder if anyone has a timeline on futaba transmitters.

If I remember correctly the Magnum AM came out about 1 year after the Magnum PCM came out. There was also a Magnum FM. Same shape and layout with a yellow colored label. I still have 2 and they still work

I like them too, still running one in a Bolink Eliminator 10

Not sure on the time frame they came out, but the above sounds right to me...I never could afford a cool radio like this as a kid so I scored mine a couple years ago on ebay.

Did they all have a battery holder containing only 7 AA batteries? Mine just broke and have yet to find one...afraid to just replace it with a more common 8 AA holder for fear of the extra voltage :?

I use the 8 cell holder in my PCM and AM versions, no issues.

I have a Magnum AM sitting right here next to my desk, have it setup with my OG Tamiya Fox.
I miss brushed motors in that hazy, everything seemed better when I was a kid, kind of way.
