Pondering running an RC10 versus the RC10B4-Oval

Post by Johnboy72 »

Ok, I know there is a lot of Old is New and all that jazz. Local track is starting up a street stock class using a stock RC10B4 with Novak ESCs (GTB, GTB2 or Havoc) with a 17.5 ballistic or SS. Must run custom work tires, have a 48pitch 75t spur/32t pinion, 2s 4100Mah 24c max...etc. Anywho, I'm going to start looking for a B4, but in the meantime, I'm pondering running a goldpan against them for the fun if they'll let me. Do you think my 6gear would be good enough or should I look for a CE stealth? Cause I need one of those anyways!!! Would love to hear your opinions.

i would find out if they will let you run it first. the six gear trans has a gear ratio of 1.96(i think), stealth trans is 2.25, and the b4 trans has a ratio of 2.60.

by the sound of how you explained it they want all the cars to be equal. especially specifying the exact pinion and spur to use. using a transmission of a different gear ratio would not be fair.

now rpm has a 2.65 ration transmission conversion for the stealth. that may get you close enough to please them, but that is something you will need to ask them. just keep in mind how much you will be spending on the stealth transmission and rpm trans conversion. you may be able to find a b4 roller used locally for about the same cost.

Can delete this thread, found that other thread about building up a modern runner. As far as the class, I'll be looking to pick up a XXX or B4, but would love to give them a run without a transponder (to prove it's just for fun) and see what damage I could do. lol.

Funny, I was just divulging a ton of info the other day to someone on dirtoval.com about this subject. If you search some of my back posts I have a ton of info on setting up a tub car for dirt oval, including the changes to run CW wheels.

good luck!

What makes the tub car a better car for roundie-round Reggie? Short arms/wide bulkhead combination? Something else...? Curious over here :)
