My $20 thrift store score

Post by davejr »

Found everything(minus the esc and motor) at a local arc thrift store for $20! I did drop in my full set of bearings and my shiny cvd's.

That is really cool.

I always hear about something like this happening at a thrift shop but everytime I go, I'm lucky if I find one shirt that fits that doesn't have a gnarly stain!

I did find some small bread pan that made a great container for all my glue and oils! I am lucky!

Great find...you give me hope!

Mmm? I thought the sport version had gold shocks?.... but then I can see bushes in the front wheel? Also, did the B2 come with the two peice front..... & rear wheels?

Good score whichever.... B2s seem to be pretty thin on the ground these days, certainly not popular (yet) with collectors 8)

man...makes my $40.00 (well used) team B2 seem pricey!!! Nice score. I gotta hit these thrift stores....

I tell ya, I hear all these stories of these thrift store/yard sale buys.....all I ever see is lamps and broken vacuum cleaners and other house crap....and a cordless drill with dead batteries that the guy wants almost full price for.....

Thanks. This is the #9011. It did have the gold shocks, but I replaced them with my green ones. It had a mechanical speed controller with all sorts of bad soldering and the resistor was held on to the shock upright with a twisty tie(garbage). It also had the 'dogbone' axles which I replaced with my shiny cvd's(I posted a tip in here regarding those). And those are bushings in those front wheels. I keep the bearings in the ones I run, these are like brand new and the tires are still shiny and tacky/sticky feeling to the touch. They were missing the inner rings for the 3 piece wheels. The motor is my old trusty Reedy Firehawk and the esc is a Novak 'Racer' that a friend gave to me a long time ago. And it didn't have a body with it.
This is not my absolute best score. That honor goes to the brand new Iwatta Eclipse airbrush that Hobby Lobby sold to me for $7.99! Just because it was 'out of the box' and didn't come with an airhose.

Yeah you aint the only ones. As far as thethrift stores around here you are lucky if you find any cheapo rc. I used to look all the time, but here latley it aint wrth it and dont get me started on yard/garage sales.

Nice score man. Hope you get to enjoy it as often as you can.
You run me in the grass imma run you in the wall, drive like a racer not a flippin idiot
