the alclad dark aluminum paint ( i think), matches perfectly, i could be wrong on the "dark aluminum" part, but thats what i think from memory. looks VERY close, maybe it was light aluminum

make sure to base coat it in black (the alclad black works great), i used 20-30psi, stuff is THIN as hell so sprays well. just needs a bunch of coats. let the black dry overnight because it will stay tacky for hours before applying the chrome finish

if u do try it, make sure to test it on some scrap wheels, its been a while since i painted mine and not sure exactly waht i ended up using, so test the colors, the paint is cheap enough, and looks great.

the chrome looks great on wheels too, not mirror but very nice and close

Yeah, I have a spare set of fronts that no longer have ANY finish on them (Simple Green)
I'll try those first.

The chrome is a little pricey. Think I'll start with the bright aluminum.

Small update on the Ultima Pro. I thought the front end was a little narrow looking especially after putting the See's RC10 rear wheels on the car. So I managed to find a set of RPM JRX2 standard length front A-arms to try, and I think it suits it well. Another thing, the UM-11 short turnbuckle is the hard one to find... When I did this swap, I went with the UM-12 and 13 for the camber and steering link, respectively. Both still available from Kyosho, and maintaining the OE turnbuckle look with the wider arms.

I have a McAllister Wildcat body I think I am going to try on this buggy. Might look good with the whole sand rail scheme.

Here we go. I haven't put a wing on her yet, but just holding one up to the body makes it look pretty darn good IMO. I will have to fab a rear body mount to raise it up about 1/4" The rear is resting on the motor plate which is why it looks crooked.

if you use one of those bodymounts that screw onto shocktowers and attach that on the original pin hole you can raise it easily

If you (or anyone else) has a high quality scan to share, I can vectorize them for you and make up an Alps set. Also I think there is a member on here that intends to reproduce nearly the entire vintage Kyosho range of decals. Don't know if the Ultima XL is on his list or not but he's apparently got access to a better printer than the Alps.
