nope, all custom color mixes necessary, particularly the orange, not so much the other colors. couple of guys have figured out something close, but like the colonel's chicken recipe, it's highly guarded.
Thing is, unless you have the original shell in front of you, it's impossible to accurately match the colours, even the colours on the box are subject to printing variations, not too mention the fact that many have faded over the years. Lighting used when the photo was taken can alter how some colours appear. If you are working off an image on a computer screen, your settings will alter colours too
Thing is to just play around with paint mixes until you get something that you are happy with, at the end of the day no one can be right or wrong
Here is what I used, all rattlle cans. Check the buggy forum under Readers rides or do a search under box art and you will find some photos of my car.
OK here are the spray cans I used on this one:
Tamiya PS-19 Camel Yellow main body
Tamiya PS-33 Cherry Red accent stripe
Pactra RC252 Blue Streak accent stripe
Tamiya PS-3 Light Blue accent stripe
Pactra RC251 Sprint White accent stripe
All colors were backed with silver to prevent bleed thru. Overall I'm very happy with how it came out, only mistake was I messed up on the rear wing and put the pink on the bottom instead of the top. Will eventually correct this when I find a correct wing

When you say backed with silver, does that just mean after you spray on a few thin coats of the colour you then spray it with a thin (or thick?) coat of silver as well?
Tamiya aerosol paints are great, good spray pattern, especially when heated in warm water. Tamiya paint doesn't stick as well as Pactra in my opinion though which makes removing Pactra paint impossible.
Regardless of Tamiya/Pactra their flourescent colors don't stick as well as other colors. I just wish Tamiya would make a Chezoom Teal.
It keeps the paint from being opaque. If you only put orange on it you will probably be able to see thru the paint a bit. Backing it also gives you a chance to change the color slightly. Backing with silver, white, gold etc will all show thru a bit differently
It's time to stand up to the bully. Support the companies that support the industry, not the ones that tear it down. Say no to Traxxas Factory Works website

Search the site for Box Art paint.
Tamiya Camel Yellow is pretty close if you want to use a can.
Thought I'd share my XXX-CR with box art painted body. I can't take credit for the work-I bought it and this and another body were in the box. The previous owner claims it was in the box sealed when he got it. He seems to think Losi sent some out...

That is swweeett! That is one lucky find! Makes me want to go buy that XXX-CR that has been sitting on my LHS shelf for the last year or so. Love that box art, now that it's cold and snowing I think I will tackle my XX, and JRX2 (courtesy of...
Looking to see if it is possible to do a box art style paint job but using translucent paint?

You may have seen this, but DemZ kept the body of his partially clear and I think it's a pretty cool look. Not quite the same of course, but worth a look. 8)

I'm looking for a Tamiya paint code for the blue on the box art for the Losi Jr-2, Junior 2. Looks like a metallic blue , maybe?
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

This wing is painted in Duratrax metallic blue, backed in metallic silver.
What kind of flat black paint do people use for the *outside* of the body, to paint in the roll cage areas? Is there a flat black paint meant to go on the outside? Or are they just using normal paint, or even the Krylon fusion plastic paint?

I do the same thing as Terry, but use Pactra Outlaw Black on both inside & outside. The outside paint dries to a semi-matte finish. The inside paint is just for when the outside paint gets scratched or dinged, it doesn't show as much. Using Pactra...
I did collect some Team Losi and TLR box art cars and where those paint styles comes from. Below are not listed Kinwald, Matt Francis and Adam Drake cars, since those were so obvious.
