Re: 2010 VONATs Entry Suggestions

That Falcon has the coolest story behind it. Almost 3 years ago, I was driving up the road with my wife and kids and saw the yellow plastic on top of 1 of my neighbors garbage cans by the road. Of course I made the wife pull over so I could hang out the window and grab it off the trash! Tossed it i...

Didn't get very far :( but there's always time again to bring it back out and complete the build - just need to get one of those Kamtec bodies and I'm set

Re: *** The official VINTAGE OFFROAD NATIONALS thread ***

The one thing I forgot - If you're running IFMAR/staggered starts, its alot easier for the announcer to call out "car 1 - go", "car 2 - go" etc - especially if there are non-local guys running... plus it kinda helps on the starting grids :) 1 goes first (duh), 2 then 3 blah blah ...

Re: *** The official VINTAGE OFFROAD NATIONALS thread ***

i think a lot of the times, the numbers are more for the announcer/spectators to see what car is where...if you're running a personal, the numbers aren't as important since you normally can't have a PT fall out of your car :)

Re: *** The official VINTAGE OFFROAD NATIONALS thread ***

Thanks Kaybo. Do people still mount them to the underside of the body? If so, am I right on the hole size, 3/16"? most of the time yes...sometimes people get "fancy" and make up a lexan holder that's attached to the chassis - but mostly I've seen them attached to the body itself... 3...

Re: *** The official VINTAGE OFFROAD NATIONALS thread ***

Are transponders the same as they were back in the early 90's? That is, should I drill a 3/16" or so hole in my body and bring along an extra body clip to secure it? How are they mounted now? Same deal - personals are the only things that are different :) The biggest thing about the new transp...

Re: *** The official VINTAGE OFFROAD NATIONALS thread ***

I've been looking into the brushless thing myself, here is the link to the roar approved list http://www.roarracing.com/approvals/brushlessmotors.php I'm still undecided as to what to get. I'd like to go tekin but they don't have an approved motor. The Tekin motors should be ROAR-approved in time f...

Re: Lipo battery info request

Another thing I didn't see mentioned here, is that your esc MUST be able to handle a voltage cut-off...LIpo DO NOT LIKE being completely discharged while running...I think the one that was originally mentioned will do lipo cut-offs, but I figured it was a point to be made... for a 2cell lipo pack (7...

Re: *** The official VINTAGE OFFROAD NATIONALS thread ***

I wanted to know, are these going to be 5 min heats?? the reason I ask, is because I'm planning on running 3300 mah nimh batteries, they're in good shape and hopefully with the brushless they'll last me a bit longer :D I know the last time I ran off-road (about 2 years ago), I was running 3300 batt...
