bill posting up his 12i gave me a kick in the rear to tear my 12e down and give it a little cleaning. plus... i was bored.

i'm gonna work on getting some radio gear in it tomorrow. i'm hoping sometime next week i'll be able to take it over to the lhs and run a couple packs through it. maybe some video too.

also, if someone has the correct pieces for the front screw on the radio tray, let me know. mine's definately not right.

Oh that body is so sweet. If I'd have known I could have sent you the correct bits you need in the box I just posted, well I still can send it.

that body is the whole reason i wanted it. i didn't really care what chassis it was attached to.

do you have a couple used piecs? i'd rather not waste new stuff on this. i'm don't even really know whats missing. there's an exploded view of the 12e/12i in the scan archives, and there seems to be some sort of plastic piece with a shank on it that goes into the radio tray from the top. then the rubber gasket, a washer, then the screw. but the pic is kinda small and it's hard for me to tell.

If I remember correctly, the front screw on the radio tray screwed through the plastic upright/spacer and a small plastic nut was on top..... and then the antenna mount (or rollover antenna) was screwed onto the top of the remaining/existing bolt threads.
(at least that's what I did with mine back in the day)

Unfortunately your memory isn't so good on the 12e... The front of the radio tray is held to the front post with a plated panhead 8-32 screw through a grommet and a couple of flat washers. The 12e antenna was pushed through the radio tray and held with some 10-32 nuts. The 12i used the alloy screw/nylon nut/fiber washer deal (at the front of the rear "pod" plate, but the antenna was mounted the same as the 12e. The 12L used the RC10 antenna mount screwed to the front T-bar pivot screw...

Glad to see scr8p getting on with his 12e, and I'm sure a01butal has hooked him up with the correct bits.

That is the correct way but most 12e I find have a rather large wood screw and one or two metal washers holding the radio try in place

the front radio tray post on mine seemed to be a little stripped, the bottom side where it attches to the chassis. so, i used a real long 8-32 screw that goes all of the way through the post and radio tray. this way, i was able to get it to bite in good in the center part of the post so that it would tighten to the chassis, and i just used an 8-32 lock nut on the top.

i ran 2 packs through it yesterday. i just have a silver can 540 tamiya motor in it. it's plenty fast for the dirty... dusty tennis courts in the park across the street from my house. the car is freakin filthy now.

Either that or your reading skiils aren't "so good"
or you would have noted I had added (at the bottom) "at least that's what I did with mine back in the day"

Yeah, I've got to admit I've had a few 'set up' that way, too...
