OK, I don't have a photo - and I don't remember who made it....

.... but back in the day some company made a "Cast Aluminum RC-10 nosepiece" and I'd like to locate one or see if anybody here remembers what I'm talking about.

It wasn't really a popular item.
I think it was made so as to bolt on to anyone's homemade flat chassis, and get proper kick-up.
It had molded tabs on the rear to attach the nose-tube braces.
And it was WAY thicker than the stock AE piece, and all but indestructable.

i kinda remember............ quite some time ago............... someone else asking about this noseplate your describing. i don't believe anyone had an answer for them at that time. i still can't offer any help, since i've never personally seen one.

What year was this? It it possible there are ads we can dig up in old R/C Car Action mags?

doesn't sound familiar, but I know custom works makes front aluminum bulkheads that do what you describe. Mount on a flat chassis to provide a kick up.

one other think I have been thinking about, with the guys trying to find blanks with kick-ups on them. The latest traxxas cars, which started with the TRX3 I beleive, actually have a front bulkhead designed to bolt to a flat plate, and provide the kickup. I suppose if you make an appropriate upper support brace, you could use that, or if it's too wide, cut the middle section out, and you can pretty much bolt that to any flat chassis plate. I also know that I've installed traxxas front arms on RC10 front bulkheads, although I can't remember if they needed to be modded at all.

Wow, that's a good one.
It would have to be during the early days of the RC-10, around the time when companies started making pan fiberglass and CF chassis plates (without built-in kickups).......

I "probably" obtained it about '87 or '88, maybe earlier......

i machined a noseplate for my 10t based oval truck. it is the same plate as the 10t/gt but it's like 1/4" thich so i don't have to use brace tubes on my terminator chassis. i made in my drill press with a cross slide milling vise and some endmills. i started out with a plasma tv wall mounting bracket i had at work that had the right 30 degree kick up i needed. it was a chore and very time consuming but i am very happy with it and it's quite a conversation piece at the track.

Nice work, but a little hard to replicate for anyone without maching capablities.
