Back in the late 1980's I got the chance to see one of these cars run at my home club of B.O.R.M.A.C. The car was fast and looked extremely cool tearing around our dirt track. In later years coming across images over the net I have grown fond of this car and have been wanting one of my own.
It wasn't until Retro R/C presented me with a look over one of his Boost's that I really wanted one of these cars. The concept was no longer a dream but soon to be a reality.
I think it has to be a combination of the box art design, the fact it's chain driven, knowing it was a success in the hands of Team Race Prep drivers against a very strong field of belt drive cars, the design of the lexan shell and those funky orange arms. Either way I always thought this car was uber cool.

Unfortunately I could not find a donor car so started to source parts from friends and eBay. Basicaly this car would have to be pieced together over time with what I could find.

I had a friend replicate (to an extent) the graphite plate work on a CAD file. My good friend Antony in Melbourne was very helpful in cutting these files for me on his CNC machine.

sweet car! I have 2 radiants, but I love the boost body! Looks much meaner than the rounded swoopy radiant body.....

so what was needed to adapt yok wheels to it?

I'm not sure how Jason did his but I used yz10 hubs the radiant uses 5mm shafts in the back and the hubs are 5mm so they fit nice.the front on the first radiant had 5mm shafts but the pro has one way shafts so you need to get some 5mm up front. I hope this helps. Jason may know of other ways

ok, that makes sense....the back i figured wouldn't be too bad, if was the fronts I was interested about. I didn't know the older older versions didn't have the one way bearings

Innitialy I was going to use Kyosho Optima axles as i have a set of alloy adapters which fit Kyosho axles and run the Yoke rims. What i found was the orange hubs space the bearings too far apart for this to work so the pics of the car with the black 2.2inch Yoke rims had some other Yoke wheel mounts that were pretty much just tightened onto the original axles. This was an early idea that I had but now i am going to fit Yokomo Dogfighter uni's but have them cut and shortened as they are too long. A lot of messing around i know but I'll get there eventualy.
I have also almost finished a belt drive conversion for this car too. I have taken Lazer ZXR ball diffs and modified them to fit into the Boost gearbox housings. I realy only need to arrange a custom belt now. I had Thomas (BUGLE) machine me up some bearing adapters from Delrin which stepped the smaller bearings of the lazer diffs up to the O.D. of the Boost diff bearings and also made the bearing faces wider.
I had all the platework drawn up on CAD by a mate of mine and had another good buddy (ANTONY) cut me up some 3.2mm fibreglass plate on his CNC bed. I ended up with some extra heavyduty shock towers and the saddlepack chassis.

Awesome car ! Really extraordinary, at least for an European I never saw this car on a race or in a magazine.Most of the exotic brands were distributed by Graupner or Robbe back in the days. Does anybody know, if Ayk cars appeared in Europe ?

I don't think they were ever imported in europe.
Like Graupner and robbe, BMI imported quite a few models and sometimes the entire gamma of brands: parma, mugen, ishipla, hirobo have all been at least partially available from them. CRP ad You-G too I think

They where avaliable in sweden but there was not many who ran them.
