What's up? I knew you would come when you saw that title!! I am new to this forum and I know people want new things to read, so I wanted to keep it moving. Here is my hypothesis. Some say the rc10 would not be as good if not for the jrx2. Is that true? I raced from 1986-1994 and was standing at the hobby shop when the first few jrx2's arrived. They were wicked! But, everything that they came with,(graphite chassis, ball bearings, great gearbox, nice tires, new rear suspension) the rc10 had allready developed. Did the jrx2 cause that, no. I feel that the rc10 was way ahead of the losi's and without them the rc10's would still be moving forward. I am not hating, as I do own a jrx2 and a jrx-pro. But I just wonder how the others look at the same subject. They're both good but the rc10 should be an Idol to all who hold a transmitter. After all, what would rc be without it. So please hate me or love me, just at least post your Ideas so that tomorrow I will have something to read when I visit again. Thank you.

Interesting topic. At my local race track back in 88-95 I was basically the only guy that ran associated cars. Everyone else ran Losi trucks and buggies. I guess at that time they were seen as the "new thing" so everyone wanted to run them.

Competition is good for any industry.

I always thought that Losi made quality stuff. I just preferred the RC10 because of how they looked.

The obvious is the RC10 was first, that being said you can pretty much assume that without the RC10 you wouldn't have the JRX2. I remember reading somewhere online and we have discussed it here, when the X2 came out the winning edge was the trans. Now that being said, it think it is safe to say we probably wouldn't have the Stealth transmission for the RC10 without the JRX2.

I usually think of it as the Mustang and Camaro comparison, you wouldn't have one without the other. Improvements in each over the past 40+ plus years always kept the OEs on their toes and fed the competition.

Further down the road and somewhat off topic.....I can't remember which came out first the B2 or the XX?

Too bad there appears to have been something like a gentlemen's agreement (I am assuming) between Yokomo and Associated on the 2WD and 4WD thing. I think things really could have gotten interesting BITD if each would have dipped into the other's respective markets.

i think it's safe to say your wrong.

if it wasn't for MIP, we wouldn't have the stealth. losi had nothing to do with it.

The JRX2 was a better buy (dollar for dollar compared to a modded RC10) if one was to start out with nothing and race. It had the hot parts right out of the box. The highly evolved RC10 provided the foundation for that at that point in time. I owned both, but was always partial to the RC10 since it was an ongoing experience to mod it out. Since the JR already had all the hot parts, I didn't get too emotionally attached to it which is the result of my current collection of 4 RC10s of various stages of mod-ness that I've built over the past year.

Yep, Scr8p is correct. The Losi diff (what was it again? LRM for Low Rotating Mass), was a similar design based off of the MIP as well.

SLOW DOWN! Man that is cool! I started the thread more or less to see if I could meet some new friends and allready people are yelling. Cool. Any way, the parts like better gearboxes were here before Losi, and I will say that we stood there and looked at the first jrx2's and noticed that all of the parts that we had saved up for and put on our rc10's, now came in one box. Better? No, just much cheaper. I feel that the jrx2 made rc10's more cost effective than better. Associated had to give more for the dollar in order to keep up. I guess I am just saying that we (rc10 nuts) did not need the Losi's, but we are glad they came along so that our rc10's came with better parts. For once in the history of radio control, we all won! ACE RIMMER, "what a guy!"

and there DEFinately wouldn't be a jrx2 if it wasn't for the rc10. i seem to remember quite few pictures of their prototypes riddled with associated parts. i guess i'll have to find all of them to refresh everyones memory.

for the record, i do like the old losi cars. i had a junior-t that i raced before i ever had an rc10. it's just that it's so much fun stirring the pot.
