Dog Bone Question (ID?)?

In switching to 3/16 Axles on my Runner, I started looking for some Bones. I grabbed a Pair that looked the closest to fitting. They did, but on closer inspection, I noticed the Pins through the Ends were 90* of each other. Ive now looked at most of the Bones I have, in my boxes AND Cars, and all seem to be...."Flat"? They go through in the same direction.
Are these Special in some way, or just one Companys way of doing it?

My (presumably stock) Yoke 834b (RPS) has bones like that. Front ones appear real close in length to 1st gen RC10 actually. If you're curious, I can put a pic up. 834b's the only Yokomo I've ever built though, so that's the extent of my 2 cents.
