XX BODY BONANZA

Post by FasterLouder »

I've had a few XX bodies, over the years and I thought I knew what an X-Cellerator body was...But then I looked through the pictures I'd gathered over the years and have found a few variations of it.
If anyone can shed light, please do...Here we have an X-Cellerator with an X-Cellerator on a XX CR (Lookin' good :D ).
Sculpted roof, with a flat section in front of the front window and a bulge on the left side.
Same as a XX CR Kinwald.
Below,on the white/green car (love that car...) we have another so-called X-Cellerator (so I'm told) with a sculpted section on the rear of the roof only, and a sculpted section in front of the front window, with again a side buldge.
And a car that I've never quite managed to work out-the XXL.
I've had one of these bodies and they're nice.
Larger windows than an A8008 and a sculpted roof, but again only the rear of the roof section is sculpted.
What goes on?
And what goes on with the XXL?
Did Losi ever release that car? I found a part number for the decal set...somewhere.
Hmmmm....

I believe the XXL was originally designed for the XXCR.

The X-cellerator was released for the XXCR Kinwald edition.

I plan on making the XXL's available if our lexan supplier can pull their head out.

No, no wing wire. Do what Rick suggested. No one will know any different.

After looking at these three shells I am sure the top shell is the
XXL that came with the CR kit the middle one is the older Jammin
shell and the bottom one is the last XX body called the X-Cellerator.
I hope that helps.

Wow-I have no knowledge of a 'Jammin' shell!
Did Losi make it? Did Jay Halsey have anything to do with it?
I've had a few of those shells and they're cool...Not as cool as an X-Cellerator,but cool, none the less.

When the first XX was released most people changed over to the
Jammin shell because it looked better then the Losi shell. And yes
it is a Jay Halsey design.

The body was one of the early products released by Jammin Jay Halsey's new company, Jammin Products...the same company producing 1/8 gas cars today. I believe Halsey also switched to Losi cars a few years before the body was released. At the time, I thouht the Jammin Body was the best body around for the original XX. It had bigger windows and a scoop which directed air onto your speed control. I have the body somewhere in my garage and I'll post pics of mine as soon as I can find it.

here is a pic of the jammin xx body. I bought than rapidly re-sold this one last summer.
Header card had the label fall off and I thought it was a pro-SE but turned out to be for an XX(Which I do not own). When I put it inside a bearrickster xx body the trim lines matched up exactly.

Wow-that is a nice piece,man!
"A Bearrickster body"-That'll be an X-Cellerator...I have the last of Rick's bodies on my XX CR Kinwald clone.
Doesn't surprise me that the cut lines were the same, they're a very similar body and Losi/Kinwald quite possibly used it as a starting point for the X-Cellerator body in the Kinwald kit.

Thanks for all the clarification on these bodies, folks!

I have enough spares to build another XX CR and probably another XXT CR,so if I see a Jammin' body up for sale,I'll jump all over it.
