my new rc10 champ buggy with 6gear tranny now with brushless
hi guys new to this site and very excited to be a member with my new ride:) still waiting for delivery but i think i have a great car to start my collection off. im also a member on TC with my wildwilly m38 boxart. if anyone has anything they can tell me about this buggy i would be greatful
After a week in my possession the beat has been rebuilt, new shocks with 50w oil for some serious dirt track racing, rebult trans, i managed to find some new old stock black grease at my local rc shop for less than £2 bargain. now i dont know if when these where new the front wheels had some play in them ie side to side movement not much but i had some shims and new nuts these sorted the play out and made the fronts super smooth. I decided to go brush less for ease and more importantly speed so i got myself a nosram evil speedo and 10.5 tuned motor. also a smooth metal geared servo and matching receiver. just waiting on a 4000 ma, 30c lipo to arrive the icing on the cake . The motor leads have been soldered for better current transfer and done them in all black for that team racing look lol. all that is missing is my new stealth tans this is on the post. managed to find one NIP so once that arrives that can go in and its time for some back yard bashing at the local BMX track. pic will follow soon.

Are all the parts dyed black? As far as I know gold tubs never came with all black parts. It could be built of new parts. Great start though!

Re: my new rc10 champ buggy with 6gear tranny
the 6 gear c.e. (like the above car) should be all white. it should also have the protech II body, not the protech.
the late stealth c.e.'s did come all black. but the rims were still white.

The late ce kits were a gamble on what you would get, black parts or white. One of mine came with this sheet when you opened the box.

Re: my new rc10 champ buggy with 6gear tranny
No wonder I had sooooo much trouble putting together my RC10. I really couldn't figure out how to put a black car together when the instructions showed white. Oh, wait that must have been a dream, me put an RC10 together.... yeah right, just ask Scr8p.
Never seen that insert before, interesting.

Thanks for the info. this is all new stuff to me. The chap i bought this off said its been sat on his shelf for years from what i can tell from the info i have found its the 1991 model and im told its the stealth diff optioned car also. i know the wheels have been dyed but the rest is black not dyed black. Out of interest what do you use to dye these parts i know they are made from nylon so i assume just a clothing type dye?
What does the other body shell look like, does it have a raised lip on the front of the nose?
p.s it might not be correct but i think it looks mean in black and gold
thanks again for your help

Re: my new rc10 champ buggy with 6gear tranny
it's not a stealth. it has the 6 gear trans.
the one that's on the box is the body it should've come with.

Re: my new rc10 champ buggy with 6gear tranny
It appears that most of the parts have been dyed. Note the ball cups, they are the early pattern never made in black, same with the shock clamps without the spring centering lip. Check the rear suspension arms, if they use the long hinge pins (2 3/16") they have also been dyed. Another way to check for dyed parts is to let them sit in the sun for a few weeks... Fabric dye is not UV stable, the parts will soon go brown. Another method is to drag an X-Acto blade across an edge of any suspect parts...bigtenuk wrote:Thanks for the info. this is all new stuff to me. Just a FYI.
Re: my new rc10 champ buggy with 6gear tranny
I stand corrected. thank for the heads up. Once a part has been dyed can you re-dye it to make it blacker ?
thanks for your info guys. black or white i think it looks cool.

Yes, go get some RIT dye (I use liquid) and put parts in a pan (I use glass) and then warm the mixture (not too hot) and they will be nice and black.

Re: my new rc10 champ buggy with 6gear tranny
To add a little more........on the last gold pan kit version with factory black parts the shocks had the black plastic caps. Also, even in the all black kit the shock towers / struts were still raw white fiberglass. It appears that most of the parts have been dyed. Note the ball cups, they are the early pattern never made in black, same with the shock clamps without the spring centering lip. Check the rear suspension arms, if they use the long hinge pins (2 3/16") they have also been dyed.

Re: my new rc10 champ buggy with 6gear tranny
It looks great dont worry about white or black? I have put 50 Rc10's together I have dyed all of them, the white parts suck!! The only way they stay White is to build a plexiglass box buit the Rc10 new quickly put it in the box and seal it cover it up with a dark cover and hide it only look at in low light like your in a Dark room. Even Ascc., relised this and swiched to black.
Re: my new rc10 champ buggy with 6gear tranny
thanks guys i take everything on board and i am really happy with my rc10. black or not i am the first person to drive this car from new so that has got to mean something right. i live in the UK so not sure of the brand of dye you refer too but im sure ic an find some thing that will work. in the UK i have only found powder type dye that is mixed with water will have to look to see if i can find the liquid type.
thanks again
