We had a vintage meeting here in Australia at the site of the 1989 World Titles - St Ives. In a few weeks the club will be taking apart the track that has stood for over 20 years and laying down a completely new layout. We vintage guys felt that the track deserved a proper goodbye - and even though the weather was not so kind - we still tore it up!

More pics are on the thread for the meeting RC TECH at : http://www.rctech.net/forum/australian-racing/268524-vintage-meet-st-ives-14th-february-09-a-6.html That link is to the last few pages where all the pics are from others as well.

I will post more details later etc but for now I will let some of my pics do the talking:

Tis a Losi JRX2 - SWB. Car ran extremely well if you have a look at some of the other pics on the RC TECH thread...

I ran my Mini Mustang, Wild Willy II and Optima Mid with Trinity biutterfly chassis and other assorted hop ups.

Awesome day - had a ball.

Cheers

You call that bad weather? This is bad weather...

Photo courtesy of Jimmy Storey - taken at a UK National in 2007. The car amazingly kept running for the full 5 minutes after that dunking without stopping

Aren't you guys suppose to be having a drought?

Seriously Darryn, top photos - there's some great looking machinery there, and good on you all for running them in those conditions. Great to see them out for the last time on a special track.

Cheers,

Ian

Yep - that car sure needs waterproofing!!

Was a fantastic day - even if the weather wasnt to kind.....

Nothing beats pushing an old car to its limits.

Cheers

It was truely a great day.The car Mr Ed is refering to is my JRX2 5 link.I bought it from the BST area on this forum, cant remember who from.It ran great all day as did my Procat.Myself and Bormac with his Cat had some nice laps together battleing it out.For me the mud added to the fun allthough I wasnt game to bring any of my nicer cars out that I had planed on running. Thanks to Darryn for the great pics and for bringing some of his stunning collection. The Hotshot race was great to watch. There was so many different brands, some I havnt seen before.Cant wait for the next meet at the Ryde track. Our little vintage community is tops and I look forward to every meeting and will be making it my priority to attend each one from now on.Congrats to all the guys who made the effort dispite the conditions.Regards,James.

I found out which car it was , looking at the the pics of darryn and others in the link.
I think it belonged to tulsa before. The different body really makes it stand out.

There's nothing like racing, be it with the old or new cars. Especially the club races are a great way to add that little extra to your hobby.
Warning though; once you've raced on a track , lone backyard bashing and street cruising will loose its appeal in an instant

LOL! You're not wrong Eric-

Even though proper racing was abandoned due to the rain, we certainly made the most of it. A handful of us travelled interstate and we weren't going home without a good days running. The pics tell all the story (and some great ones there too Dazzler). James is right, our little vintage community is pretty cool and it seems he's definately hooked like the rest of us. So many different cars on show and in action make for a great day. Suprisingly most of the cars held together for a strong run or two in the sticky and wet mud. It was hard to recognise who's lump of mud was who's. LOL
This will be one of those days that we'll never forget-vintage R/C with mates.

Yes,what a day,I will never forgat it.I was lucky enough to have a drive of a guys Fast Attack vehical at this meet.I was nervous but really enjoyed it.Rizzo's cars were some of the best presented,he ran his Brat and has a custom trailer that he tows his Wild one with untill the trailer wheels clogged with mud.It was funny to see some people including myself washing cars directly under the tap trackside.Im sure we all have many hours of rebuilding ahead of us now.
