My wife is a die hard Jr fan, and
had to have this from Target, regardless of the 150$ price tag years ago. It has the controls of a 20$ Wal-Mart toy, so only full throttle, full reverse, straight, left or right. Nothing in between.
Currently I have it hanging on the garage wall, but keep thinking of putting some better running gear in it one day.....she drove it once, and that was it....
sitting next to a 1/8th scale buggy for size.....it has a Lexan body too....

That might be a neat project with real radio gear.

My biggest trouble doing this is usually hard tyres? Are they reasonable quality rubber?

Tires are solid rubber....fairly hard, but seems close to a real automotive rubber tire.

12v, traxxas 14.4v esc or downgrade battery to 8.4v and change motor?
most of the cheap servos have much the same dimensions as a stock one, that should be easy.

A buddy and I have been talking about doing this to some Cars we have. He has a Radio Shack Red Arrow, and Im thinking about doing the Sears Lobo IV Ive got. He also has a Mustang about the same size as y2kgtp's that we thought would be awesome with some Hobby Grade Gear in it. Glad to hear weare not the only ones thinkingin this direction.
