if this has already been posted i apologize, but it seemed worth mentioning.

i went into pep boys today looking for a little air compressor, and while scoping the aisles i literally had to do a doubletake on a traxxas display... they had a rusty, a slash, and something else along with hopups and replacement parts.

i have also heard that toysrus will be selling either traxxas or losi, i forget which.

I saw it posted on another board. They had mixed feelings about it. Probably it will get some folks into the hobby who otherwise would not consider it, but may be taking some business away from the LHS. Apparently the prices are a bit higher than what most hobby places would carry them for.
Unfortunately the nearest pep-boys is 55 miles away co I can't check out the selection and pricing.

the only price i noticed was on the slash, and it was 200 even, which aint too shabby...

You would expect the big chain stores to be able to undercut the LHS guys. Good for the customer, but bad for the hobby as a whole. How many spare parts do you think Pep Boys will carry? If they drive the LHS's out of business then we'll have to get all our spares and supplies off the internet.

At my local Pep-Boys they are over priced slightly but that's due to our Pep-Boys here. I guess they have regional pricing guidelines. I don't believe Pep-Boys selling a few Traxxas vehicles will put a LHS out of business unless that LHS really sucks...

Pepboys is likely only selling the RTR rig, no parts of any kind, so while they might dent an LHS RTR sales, they're not going to touch the follow up, repair, or hop-up markets.

I don't have a PB that is convenient enough to even stop by, so it will be a while before I am able to say whether or not they've got any Traxcraps stuff on their shelves or support for it.

they had an entire 4 sided display with rtr kits and an assortment of spares and hopups. for what it was, it was pretty impressive.

if i go back to get the slash i'll take pics.

AND they're saving up to 60% plus an additional 10%, so that's like 70% right there! Doesn't that mean that the MSRP is like ... way more than $269?

Hope they don't go to Losi page, as it says MSRP is 269$

I'll sell a new one for 180$

That's what I'm saying! LOL

I think it's a big mistake for hobby quality RC manufacturers to start selling at the general public level. Yes, they may sell a few more units which helps their own bottom line, but they're doing it at the cost of the very people buying the product because non-hobbyists who buy this garbage at Retailers-R-Us, are getting screwed on the price because they don't know any better. Worse is, they've already been screwed before by buying Nikko and New Brite off the shelf of said Retailer-R-Us that was over priced garbage and had to be tossed for lack of repair parts, or knowing where to locate repair parts.

I'm all for getting more folks into the hobby, but don't lure them in under false pretenses, and certainly don't screw them on the way in the door.
