Traxxas slash
I just got back from the hobby store to pick up my parts I ordered with my gift card, what a mistake it was to walk in to the place. I was finally able to touch and hold the Traxxas slash! Pretty neat looking truck, now I have to get one. My son liked it too and I might have convinced him to get one instead of the losi mini crawler or the axial scorpian he wants. Either way I have to sell some stuff I have extras of and possibly even let go of 2 cars to get them for us, Im deciding on which ones to sell so keep an eye out in bst. Most of you already know which cars I have so be on the look out for them.

Re: Traxxas slash
As soon as my son found out you can drive them in water and mud, the Slash was on his Christmas wish list. Of course, Santa came through
, and that thing has been wet and dirty almost every day since. It really is a blast to drive and hearing him laugh and cheer every time he runs it through the muddy gunk is worth a mint.
I've never been much of a RTR guy, but I have to say that Traxxas did a great job on this product. Pulled it out of the box, charged up the battery and off it went. It's very rugged, looks cool and it's nice change of pace to have a hobby-quality RC vehicle my son can just take out and run without having to fuss around with it. Heck, other than charging the battery, the only maintenance I've done so far is to clean it up with the garden hose and hang it up to dry.

Re: Traxxas slash
We've been putting Traxxas' marketing claims to the test and so far it's holding up. We just had a pretty good rain here, so I'm sure it'll be back in the mud by Saturday. I'll try and take a couple of action shots.

Re: Traxxas slash
OMG, I love my slash, and they are pretty indestructable. I bought one for my 6 yr old for christmas, and after 20+ packs, and several full speed hits into the brick wall, he finally managed to break a rear hub carrier. A $3 part and about 5 minutes work. He goes racing with me at Pegasus too, runs in Novice with it...no changes from back yard bashing to race track.

That looks great, I want the blue one with the Fabtech logos. Im driving my happy butt to pegasus cuz my local hobby store sucks and I refuse to give them more than 10.00 bucks for something I want. They have pissed me off all 3 times I have been there since Hobby Town has closed.

Re: Traxxas slash
Don't know anything about that truck, but I do know a think or two about getting wet and muddy. As long as your electronics are protected, any RC is water/mud capable. Sure, there are certain things that you'll want to watch, avoid, but on the whole as long as the important stuff stays dry you're good to go.
Do yourselves a favor and look into Aeroplate Aerolube. It is a dielectric lubricant that protects electronics and electrical devices from water and moisture damage. Well worth the few bucks for the bottle that will last a lifetime. If your vehicle is going to see water/mud on a regular basis, do not install bearings, stick with stock bushings and pack the axle housings with grease to prevent water infiltration into the gear train. You don't have to worry about motors and water because DC motors are not affected, you will have to clean the motors well when done playing in mud/water because they will clog with grit and debris, hanging up brushes and causing excess wear.
Other than that, have fun and welcome to the dark side!

Re: Traxxas slash
HobbyTown in Corona, CA has a STACK of Slash RTR kits for 199.99
They said they may be comboing them with some batteries this weekend.
at 199.99 it may be time to stash one for my son's 10th birthday.

Re: Traxxas slash
I'm afraid I'll have to get one too. Everywhere I go people rave over them. The price is very reasonable too. Traxxas has the market by the short hairs for good reason.

I bought one...then took it apart and parted it out
Now, if Traxxas paired that 2.4Ghz radio I know they have (Brushless E-Revo) with the Traxxas Slash, at the same price point, they would
have a even better winner on their hands.
Even a 20-30$ price bump, it would be worth it for all the spec class racing they have for this truck.

Re: Traxxas slash
They wont why when they cant keep them on the shelves now? Why put out w/ more expenive radio when they are selling the crap out of them with a stock Radio. they should put them out with the brushless system also. I like the no maintance of brushless more so than the speed.y2kgtp wrote:I bought one...then took it apart and parted it out![]()

Re: Traxxas slash
Brushless would change the current class these run in, they all have to use the 550 12T Titan motor. Radio systems (Tx\Rx) are allowed to be swapped out however per most tracks rules.bearrickster wrote:They wont why when they cant keep them on the shelves now? I agree they prob won't get upgraded, as they know they got a good thing out of the box. The thing is built like a tank too....
