Lubricating internal Stealth transmission gears?

[My roommate has a Losi XXT-CR, and while he was rebuilding the transmission, and I was rebuilding the stealth in my 10T, I noticed he was lubricating the teeth of the internal transmission gears (top, idler, and diff gear) with a lubricant of waxy consistency. He wondered why I wasn't lubing the gears inside my stealth tranny.
I was under the impression that the diff balls and the thrust bearing inside the differential required lubricant, as does the thrust bearing for the slipper clutch, but that the internal transmission gears were to be left dry.
Is this just a Losi thing, or have I been out of the game for too long?

yes it's just a Losi thing, and most probably even a friend thing, well at least gears from the very first Losi trannies were not supposed to be lubed as they simply lube the tranny by wearing, same thing for the Stealth, don't lube the gears, use black grease for the thrust washers and balls and Stealth diff lube for the diff...
a few more tricks from Cliff Lett:

and more for the 6-gear, build it with Jim Halsey himself:

and you'll soon beat your "Losi" friend, lol J/K

I usually put just a little dry graphite lube on the gear teeth, probably doesn't help anything, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't hurt anything. Just always been my habit.

Like Assoman said, I was always told to never lube stealth ears with anything. The only gear I ever saw wear on was idler which seems normal since it's under the most stress. Even for the new b4/t4 Brent Thielke (AE team manager) told me not to lube the gears.

The waxy lube is probably the AC1001 shown here:

I used it, and still have a little tub from 1995 or so. It did seem to add a little extra life to my GT's transmission when I started running the TOP/Novarossi motors.
