Removing Tires - Stock JRX-T Rims

Hey fellas,

I got a quick question. I acquired a set of stock JRX-T orange 5 bolt rims for my brothers JRX-T from eBay. The tires are glued and I was wondering if these particular rims can withstand the acetone bath to get the tires to free up.

Any help is appreciated.

I think acetone is a no no on the Losi rims. Better to use steam or boiling water.

Only the early orange Losi wheels cant take acetone. but if their glued what choice do you have? I would use a razor blade cut it off as much as you can. then use a shallow dish and set the rim in or use a q-tip to put the acetone on the glue only?

I use it all of the time on the Losi XX 5 star wheels. I soak them over night or faster sometimes? then soak the rims in Castrol Super clean to get the glue and dirt off. it really cleans them up but be carfull it will take the skin off also

I have used acetone on the set of yellow 5 spokes from the JRX2 without an issue. I haven't personally tried the "early" rims, but they feel like the same type of material to me. Proceed at your own risk.

Thanks for the replies, I think I feel safer taking a knife and a Dremel to them for clean-up of stuck rubber than chancing the acetone. The tires definitely are not worth saving.
