Something i've been working on, not alot left to do. Obviously MIP legends inspired
Started off with a B3 and now I don't really have much B3 left in it
Specs
B3 chassis which had the front brace knobs snapped off so that's why i've put delrin ones there.
B3 front and rear arms, rear hub carriers
B44 front steering knuckles and caster blocks
Custom delrin bellcranks with rack type thing B4 style
B4 standard rear wheels for rear
B4 rear wheels with the inner bead chopped off and modified offset for front
2.25:1 Stealth transmission (needed the spinning idler shaft), idler gears pinned to the pulley shaft.
Custom made rear chassis plate, rear arm mounts 4mm further out each side to clear the trans, motor plate is a copy of the B3 one but attaches to 2.25 trans.
Custom made front chassis plate with 10 degrees kickup.
Machined delrin front gearbox housing/bulkhead for standard stealth diff gear and idler.
3mm pitch HTD belt
3.5mm carbon fibre shock towers

Still gotta make the driveshafts and finish the outdrives. Made aluminium outdrives and i'm going to make some "blade" things to go over the dogbone pins. Then clean up the chassis plates and motor plate and anodise all the aluminium bits blue.
Then I need to make the front and rear transmission braces,
Belt system needs the tensioners mounted properly, and the drive pulleys need to be finished with a plate on the outer side and a screw to hold them onto the shaft.

This is something. Very meaningful and nice project. Keep it up

i really wish i had access to machining equipment. i'd be a happy little boy.

Nah no CNC, i've only got pretty basic stuff, all milling is done with a little vertical slide which mounts on the lathe cross slide. Good for milling RC car size parts.

Hadn't seen your project before, looks good! That 2 gear transmission is convenient for the front end. See if you can finish it before I finish mine

why not just use a set of pin cushions or you could go old school and use .090 weed eater string.

Now this is something! I have to admit, for some strange reason I like the B3 more than all the buggies from Associated so far and this project is exploiting the great potential it has. Keep up the great work and look forward the final product.

Yeah B3's are great, I still run one in 2wd mod just converted it to run B4 rims and made a carbon fibre rear shock tower that won't break.

I was thinking first to use pin cushions but they look like they'd wear out pretty quickly having such a small point of contact with the outdrive slot, the blades should last alot longer. Weed eater string in place of a steel pin? Wouldn't that snap off pretty easy?

excuse my ignorance, could anyone illustrate what pin cushions are please?

Looks like the steel dogbone pin is replaced with a thinner steel pin with a nylon sleeve over it to give the same outer diameter as the original pin and have no metal to metal contact.
