I am converting a XXT from slider drive shafts to MIP drive shafts. I am confused a bit on which outdrives I need. All the outdrives I can find are different from the right and left side, but I can only find this outdrive for the XX/XXXT

So do I need two of these or is there a matching piece that I cant find?

The other models and the plastic outdrives I have show a male and female side like this

What is the male part number? The only number listed in the exploded view and parts list is A-3073 Outdrive Cup/Diff Half

going by that diagram, the outdrive would be the same from left to right. a-3072 would go from one side to the other to keep them centered. could be wrong, though.

If you use the newer ones they are the same and use a diff tub part # A-3072

Yes, the diff tube A 3072 is the difference in the 2 styles of diffs. Functionally replaces the male portion of a male/female pair.

Notice that the centering bearing location is different? With the diff tube it goes in from the side, right behind the thrust bearing with the little shim. With paired drives it goes in from the middle of the diff. Better protected from the thrust bearing muck, which is the heavily greased part of the diff and not completely protected from the elements.

i have used the losi a-3097 moulded plastic outdrives for 2 years in my xx-retro trans for oval and have seen guys run them in trucks and buggys as well. they are super light and when used with aluninum cvd's they are awesome, just be sure to use pin cushions.
