Belt driven AYK Radian and a cool Bobcat

I just stubled on an old CD I made years ago when I stated storing whatever images of AYK buggies I could find. I remember seing this very cool radiant on some japanese site (could have been time tunnel as I was just starting the virtual RC interest on the net but I think it's another site).

Anyway this Radiant has been converted to belt drive instead of the chain. I guess the parts were CNC made? If someone recognise the metal parts please tell me. I'd love to make that conversion... It also had hand made suspension arms I guess made in Derlin (?). All I could understand on the web page was the pictures... Don't know much japanese....

On the same site I had found a very cool bobcat... Upgraded with graphite parts. The front setting clearly fixed the slack in the steering assembly that's so bad on these cars...

I'd love to find this web site again. If anyone came across these pictures I don't have the link anymore...

Enjoy...

The belt drive parts look very nice and expensive

The bobcat front suspensions seems like some sort of 'active' links, wish I could understand the machinism behind it.

I think the new arms on the Radiant front make sense, the original one design sucks big time

Well people used to cut the top arms in the center and remove a bit of material so they could joint the two bits with a turnbuckle. Not as nice as on the picture but effective. Some people also put the top arm in reverse position I think to change the angle of the wheel...

yes, the arms can be switched to change the caster.

if I get a chance to measure the chassis tonight, I'll post up some dimensions.

the bobcat has some kind of reactive caster going on there. there are two flat cantilever bellcranks, right on top of each other, but it;s tough to see and it looks like the 4 links connect to the same peice of carbon fiber.

i never noticed in the picture of the pulleys that they give you all the specs....hmm....looks like i'll have to go check out spd-si for some mxl pulley stock......

I have some pulley stock that will be making it's way to Jake next week. If it works I will of course post a build thread.
