Hi-Cap buggy dampers

Hi,

Can any Tamiya aficionado's out there tell me if Tamiya Hi-Cap dampers are particularly rare or valuable? I've got a mint set of buggy dampers that came as spares with a Yokomo buggy. I'm guessing they were originally intended for an Egress? What other Tamiya's had them as standard?

Cheers,

Ian

They were standard on the Egress and also sold as hop-ups. I don't know of another kit that they were stock items.
There are some listed on eBay-- NIP are between $50-$65 for a set of two (front and rear are 2 different lengths). Do you have a set of 4 matching shocks or 2 rears and 2 fronts? 53036 and 53037 were the pn I believe.
I would imagine they have some value, but used shocks are a tough market when new ones are still out there. There are plenty of more modern shocks for use on runners. Most people looking for these specifically for shelf queens are looking for perfect examples and would be willing to buy the NIP ones imho.
Good luck!

Cheers for your help Civilguy. The shocks are not NIP, but are a pair of front & rear assembled and unused, complete with instructions & accessories. I'll hang on to them for a runner if they're not worth much. Tamiya shocks have a reputation for being super high quality.

:?: things must have changed a lot since I had my boomerang then :!:

The shocks you mention, hi-caps: are those the pastel purple ones?

I did get a set of rears with a yz-870C and like them; if that's them and they are still available I may be tempted to look for fronts to make a set.

If I'm not mistaken, they were also stock on the Dyna Storm, but with long shock on the front. Awesome shoks if you ask me, super smooth, big oil volume... Some spamming:

Looks like Dyna Storm did have them. I was fading from the hobby even by the time the Egress came out-- good call Asso_man!! ;)

Are they really this blue? or is it just this picture?
(Were the egrees ones a different colour, or did they discolour to a more pastel-like purple easily?)
going from memory they look like what I have, but I won't be sure till they get here in mid Janauary

The Egress shocks & the set I've got are more silver / Titanium colour than pastel blue. I'm guessing the Boomerang had CVA shocks which were usable but not really race worthy (I used to race a Tamiya Thundershot - probably the same shocks). Back in the 90's the hi-cap shocks had a reputation of being some of the best around.....
