Fitting 2.2 inch rim to the 870c

So now I have an 870c (Japan/Euro version) I would like to run 2.2 inch rims, I also have a set of rear arms and only one hub as pictured.
Are these 91 Works rear arms? And is this a RPM diff set up?
What needs to be done to the 870c to accept the 2.2 inch rims?
Also, any hints on cleaning the magnesium components to look like new?

don't pin me down on this, but from what I remember from other posts on this forum it looks like you have a corally chassis, the arms are works 91 (so it's not an 870C actually). I don't think the bulkhead is RPM (if it is it would have RPM 's logo on it).
The magnesium (if it is magnesium: they changed to aother castin material later I think) was famous for dulling straight away in contact with air

buff it, clear-coat, don't run it: motorheat may crack the coating.
2.2 inch wheels with the narrow offset should be a straight fit on those arms. Make sure you get the correct length U_J's for the front and rear, and correct hubs too: all are different from the 870C versions.

This is not the 870C I have, just wondered what the components where and if they were needed to fit the 2.2inch rims on the 870C.
So the correct offset 2.2inch rims will fit a standard 870C?

I'm not sure a correct offset 2.2 inch wheel exists for the 870C arms.
Check with Bormac: he's been trying to teach me on this earlier.

Hi Scott,
The A-arms pictured in this post are Works '91/93 arms. The rear bulkhead looks very similar to the RPM version but uses a different "bulkhead cap". I don't think that chassis was made by Corally but I can't be sure.
2.2 inch rims were available for the YZ-870C in both pink and white (Yokomo OEM). I don't have the part number for the front rims. The part number for the rear rims is ZC-835. They are different from the Works '91 rims (different offset).
In regard to cleaning magnesium, Templeofspeed provided this link in another post-
http://www.magnesium.com/w3/data-bank/index.php?mgw=182. If you have access, Glass Bead Blasting is the most effective way to clean magnesium without removing any material (unlike polishing) from the item.

I phoned Scott this afternoon and what I proposed was that with his genuine and original 870c that he keep the rear end stock and I have some white 2.2inch rims with the deep dish offset as mentioned above. The shallow offset rims of the 91-93 will bring the wheels in too close to the body. As for the front I would get a hold of some more stock rear arms and mount them up front as Masami and the other Yokomo drivers of the day were doing ,allowing the shallow dished rims to go up front (which are still around) as the deep dished fronts seem to be quite rare.
I have a handful of both new and near new rims whenever you are ready,all in 2.2inch

Ok, just wanted to update everybody on this 2.2inch saga for the 870c...
Jason sent me the rims as mentioned above, deep offset rears provided identical track as with standard rims - perfect!
Fronts were the shallow rims similar to the 91 works YZ10, this reduced the front track by 8mm in total - problem!
The ideal way to solve this would be 2.2inch deep dish front rims, can anyone help?
Otherwise the recommendation was to run rear arms on the front like Masami's 89 worlds car, this would make the front track wider than the rear as his car also ran wider rear arms...
My only other thought is to move the hub hinge pin to the outer hole gaining 12mm width then placing the rear wheel adaptors (thinner by 4mm) on the front driveshafts giving the 8mm back lost by fitting shallow dish rims.
Keen for any other thoughts on this...

Old Problem, but ZC-822 Front Wheels solves the front problem you are having.
