I finally found an ebay steal one, with jato wheels and a couple hop ups, great fun and seem unbreakable in everyday bashing.

Just got back from Leisure Hours Racetrack(location of the 2009 ROAR Fuel Off Road National's) watching the Slash spec class run. There were 20 racers tonight and by next week probably 21 as I think this is the best racing I have seen in a long time. Too cool not to get in on it, guess I'll go in tomorrow and see what color the store has in stock.

It beats flattening my leisure battery as the only warmers I have are a little on the large side

1/5 petrol size to be precise

but seriously, I like that place for pics, as it has the best light, and with my oddball collection, it gives an immediate sense of scale for the viewer, as mine range from 1/4 to 1/72 it could be anything :D

I love my Slash...we have a Traxxas sponsored Slash/Slayer race coming up at a local track, I am aching to race in it. Still waiting for "official" rules to be posted...

they have some Cool Bodys coming out for the Slash's soon. Upgrade has some cool but expensive decals for alot of different bodys. I am doing a Monster one for mine the stencils are being cut now and a clear body on the way.

I was thinking about getting one since they are cheap so to speak. I had a stampede and hated it! Can anyone tell me how this thing drives? Bummpy sticks to the gronds, goes fast out of the box that kind of stuff.

The Slash has average performance (speed, handling) out of the box. I think it's appeal to most is the "scaleness"-- that is, the long suspension travel, the realistic tire patterns, the way they 'float' over rough terrain and jumps like full sized CORR trucks. They even roll over in 'slo-mo' like a real truck would roll-- I get mine on 2 wheels all the time! ;) With the oversized bodies and bumpers you can also do a lot of rubbing while racing and not get tangled up (like a traditional rc stadium truck).

Overall, they are very durable and they are setup to take pretty much any BL setup you want to throw at it. So if you're the type that gets bored with 25mph you can easily upgrade to faster motors and better tires. I love mine totally stock. :D

I love my slash, I toss in a Lipo and have a ball. These things are tough as nails too....all the "plastic" is soft and rather flexible, so impacts are absorbed rather well. I regularly let my 6 year old have at it, while I work on the Vintage or fast cars...

Well, I went and beat up, I mean raced, my Slash this last weekend. Finished second overall, the leader lapped everyone, including me. I ran a pretty consistent race, but he was running 1/2 to a full second a lap faster than me even.

The rules have finally been posted for our Traxxas sponsored race on the 22nd. Full spec (nothing changed out of the box, and only "factory assembled" 6c packs), Expert (must remain mostly stock, open electronics/motor, can use Lipo, can use any Traxxas shocks, any rim, must use Slash stock tires), Open...pretty much anything goes as long as it has the right wheelbase & width, and started as a slash (must retain stock body)

I will race in the expert class, Using a Mamba 4600, Orion Lipos, Traxxas Big Bore shocks. I am attempting to source stock tires (2.2 inch, not the weird slash/slayer tire 2.2 on one side, 3.0 on the other :? ) and I will mount them on OFNA CRT .5 flat face Orange wheels (they will look good with my Ivan Stewart Toyota paint job). Hopefully I will have everything before this Saturday, I want to test run it again at least once before the race.

And a test of durability...My son destroyed the front end on his T4 in the first qualifier. Sheered the front end off my RB5 in the second qualifier. So I was race 3 for the main, he was race 4. I ran a 16 lap race, pulled in the pits, changed transponders, put in a fresh lipo and handed him the transmitter. He beat the snot out of the truck and managed 8 laps. Ankles were not safe that race, nothing was offlimits to his bashing. Truck took it like a charm. As soon as my ZX5 sells on ebay, we will purchase another Slash, just for him. Locally they are only 189 + tax.

If anyone is having doubts about these trucks, dont. This is the most fun I have had in over 20 years racing.
