Restored LXT - FIXED PICS 08/22/2012 :)

Hi Guys

I'd link to post a link to an article I wrote a while ago for a french-speaking site (sorry, that's my native language) which describes in details a full resto for the first Losi car I ever owned, the almighty LXT (which I think would still be a raceworthy contender today!) as well as says a few words about the brand's history. I'll just post a couple of pics and the link, have fun reading the text, it's mostly the pix that count anyway, eh :wink:

Note that in the meantime I got a new chassis (merci Damien ;) )as well as steering bellcranks, I need to put them on the car... when I have time !

Yep, very nice clean up, nice paint too.
Agree, the LXT is a classic. A huge improvement in performance at the time.

Heck yes it could be! I just cleaned mine all up as well. They really make you appreciate the technology of the period. NIce paint, is that your original body?

Hi guys - thanks for the kind words, heartwarming, a lot of elbow grease went into this baby and I really cherish it.

To me Losi really revolutionized the 2wd offroad world with its smart use of plastic... when you look at an LXT and a 10T next to each other, it's obvious which car looks the most technically advanced!

I inherited this car, used, in 1995... the previous owner, a much older guy than me ( I mean more than twice my age... and ininitely more cash to spend on RC at the time) used to order a lot of stuff from the US, hence the option parts already on the car (tunrbuckles, gear cover, ...), I remember he always had Sheldon's and Stormer's latest flyers laying around at his place.

This is the body he sold it to me with, I remember he mentioned he bought it, painted, from the US too (could very well be Andy's). Stickies are period Autographics of Cali. Body was in okayish shape at the time of resto, it got a thorough cleaning, some fender mender, plus paint touch-ups where needed, and other make-up tricks, and if you don't look from too close enough it looks pretty darn good now ;)

Still a bit of work to do on the car though - I have to mount that newly found Pro SE chassis, plus switch back the the stock a-arms (the RPM ones were mounted on as I initially expected to make this car a runner), plus new motor plate, and so on so forth...

if anyone could point me to a good source of stock screws, the big fat black ones that hold stuff to the chassis (what are they again, 6/32 or sthing) I'd be very grateful!

Glad you liked this car - Absolutely fantastic piece of engineering, great testimony to Junior's and Pop's car designing skills!

Contact Eau Rouge here in the forums. He has (had) replacement screw kits made up a while ago. When I joined a few months back I bought a couple of sets from him that are now on my rides. He may have them. Here is the link.

Might still try as he has all of the nylons as well in the screw set.

I had an opportunity to chat with Junior in 1991. He mentioned that was what he was most proud of, the materials they were investigating and using. If I'm not mistaken he mentions materials in the introduction in the first manual too.

Yep, all new offroad cars look a lot more like a LXT/Pro SE than anything else I'm aware of. That said, I still have a soft spot for the woven graphite and gold tub stuff too.

Oh, the large chassis screws are 8-32 thread. Cheers!

By all means, exhaust eau rouge's supply of nylon nuts first (if you need them)

If he's out, go here and scroll down th the 10-32 size for Losi axles.

A3024 is the complete gear bag, with outdrive gears, center diff gear and both side diff gears. Do you need the whole set or just one particular gear?

I only need the diff gear, 52 tooth I believe, but would consider the bag I guess. Can never have too many X-tras. I'm told there were 2 trannys this truck used. Mine has the black case. Thanks 8)

If you need a 52 tooth thats the spur gear, not the diff gearbig difference? do you need the one in the trans or the one on the outside?
