I don't see any alloy shock collars on yours purpletimbo, you have Option House Equalizer shocks with plastic shock collars there

i think CRP made some, but he doesnt sell those on ebay anymore.

bill has some great red shocks on ebay for like $23.00 bucks with all aluminum parts and shock collars, but the collars dont fit the red kyosho shocks unfortunetly.. they could be drilled though, i was going to try it but havent had time

hello All,

There are 3 aluminum options that I know of:

1. CRP - Bare aluminum collar that utilizes a set screw. This works, but makes a mess of the aluminum finish. Aslo, if you torque down too much, you can dent the shock body and affect the overall performance of the shock.

2. After market ebay seller - These collars are similar to the CRP units but are anodized in red to match the original color of the gold shocks. The same issues as the CRP version.

3. Kyosho aftermarket part - Silver like the CRP. The main difference was the style of the set screw. The other side of the set screw (opposite of the hex) was drilled out and a nylon peg was placed inside the hole. What this does is allow you to apply friction without scratching the shock body. I had a set back in the day, but sold it with one of my cars.

The last option is what I use...which are the shock collars from the Kyosho Raider. The raider used plastic friction shocks (no oil). These shocks were the same diameter as the red oil shocks, but the shock collars were made from a different material. The collars didn't crack like the ones used on the gold shocks. The part number begins with RD - .

highwayracer
