Removing anodizing from shock

I just wanted to know what prep you need to do before stripping shocks. Basically do you strip the anodizing off the inside as well?

it doesn't matter if the anodizing comes off the inside. when i do them, i just concentrate on getting the outside clean.

i assemble the shock body and the shock cap and then strip with easy off.
i prefer to do it that way to keep anything from getting on the inside of the shock body.

anyone here removed the gold anodizing from a gold tub? i've use easy/off to take anodizing off other rc stuff but the rc10 tubs look a little more durable. i dont' think it'll come off as easily and cleanly. maybe some sort of paint stripper is in...

To strip off without any danger a pair of rear gold anodized shocks that were quite worn, I decided to use the manual sandblasting technique like proposed in another post. It took me some time but if you don't have to strip the shock caps like me,...

thanks Scr8p, they will only be polished once in a while to keep on blinging, but it seems I have a new disorder, I also stripped the nose plate, which was in a poor state already, now aluminium front A-arms could still add something though 8)

Are the later blue anodized shocks hard-coated or ptfe impregnated like the early grey Team shocks?

Hmm maybe the reason why the orange shocks from my old RC10 graphite exhibited so much wear from the pistons, is because they lack the PTFE-impregnation that the grey shocks have.

Does any one do or know if anyone who can do QUALITY anodizing for an rc10 chassis parts set for a reasonable price?

Keep me posted as well. I'm gonna continue to look for the black re re motor plate as that's all I really need. They look like they are due out soon

How much work/mess is?
I've been looking in to this on other web sites and looks fun to try.

Thanks, I've looked at that site and his kit prices. That kit is what I'm looking to start with. Has anyone done this and how big of a mess is it? Can you get good parts out of these kit?

Here are two of my cars that I anodized, first time for me. Red is a short arm with 13.5 novak and a six gear, gold has an original stealth, 17.5 reedy, worlds shocks with 12mm springs. Both are re release worlds tubs with original nose plates....
