I dug these up a few days ago. Not that this has much relavence here, but it was my baby for 3 years. Spent a lot of time/energy/sweat on this bugger. Had a lot of fun too.
These are pics of the day after the race. So if it looks a little dry, that's why.
Anyway, enjoy.

Initially I had a few friends agree to help as far as maintenance/ prep of the track before race days. Time wore on and the excuses to not help piled up. I gave the guys that helped free or close to free race entries, so it wasn't like they were doing it for nothing. Anyway, I got tired of all of the work involved. It is too much to hold a regular job, spend time with the family, and then prep the day before the race, and then spend all day out there the day of the race. And then be expected to do it every week. I know, excuses, excuses
Rain sucks too. We get plenty of it too. We had 2 rain delays for the TN state championship race in one day. Luckily it was designed to drain well.
If I ever win the lottery, you can guarantee wherever I live there will be one of the best indoor offroad facilities around.

I am sure it will never happen, but I would like to have a dirt oval with offroad in the middle on the upper hemisphere split by a drivers stand, the a paved on road oval with a road course in the middle on the lower hemisphere.
Just a dream.

trust me... you don't want a paved anything next to a dirt track. that's one of the reasons t&l is moving their offroad track. guys feel the need to walk across the paved track with their muddy shoes, or clean their muddy tires off on the paved track... while walking across it with their muddy shoes.

I'm building an off road carpet track in my back yard, the size of the vintage nationals track
Off course, if my wife allows it
One of three reasons I bought my house was because the back yard was big enough for a track

Sure,
1. It has 4 bedrooms, 1br for my daughters, 1br for me and the wife, 1br for my daughters to play, and 1br for my hobby room or for me to play.
2. Big back yard for a possible track
3. Far away from the ghetto that I grew up in

Just learned that the indoor carpet track in my area is closing. The guy who owned it started it w/ $$ won in a settlement for his dad. Its been open for a bit, but its a drive for many, but DOES give folks shelter from the rain, and here in oregon, it does rain. We used to have an awesome indoor track that was located in a strip mall.
I've thought about owning/opperating a hobbyshop. I've worked for 2 LHS in my time, and I know its not a place to make $$. I also think its something to be said about the economy as well.
I have grandeose ideas about the type of track i want to have..... Yeah, come on Powerball!
