Mr. ED's ULTIMA'S : Proj. 001

This is my 2nd rc car: originally an Ultima Pro.
I bought it about 17 years back: after my Tamiya Boomerang gave in.

It got raced for about a year as a buggy with numerous changes.
Then started to convert it for truck class racing.
(1st year trucks got a place in competitions and over a year before Kyosho came out with a lame truck based on the Ultima)

While I got other cars later, I regularly popped this one back out to compete on different tracks.

Here is todays state:
a true proof you don't need to stick with one brand, and oldies can Rock!

The wheels are MRC or something along that line, with modified Tamiya Monsterbeetle axles on the front.
The tires are Losi in the front and something unbranded in the back.
The suspension arms and hingepins are from an asso RC10T.
Dogbones were made for an HPI MT.
The chassis is the 3mm Turbo Ultima tub-chassis.
The body is from Parma turnbuckles are from Lunsford.
Steering is aluminium and ball-raced (who knows for which car or from which brand).
Upper nose-brace, ESC-deck/battery lid and front damper stay were all home-made.
Rear damper stay is from a standard Ultima.
Rear chassis braces and body mounts are Taniya M-series parts.
Front body mounts are kyosho Spider (TF1) I believe.
Shocks are the original gold option-houses.
The steering setup was modified to upright the servo; to make space to carry the battery in the length.

I hope you like it.

Time for an update!

I need the bug body for another project, so after some serious head-scratching I came up with the idea of giving this small size european car (first model renault Clio) bigger fenders. It kinda looks like an SUV now... I hope :P
