Hey guys,
Love the forum but I couldn't find anything on this topic? I recently purchased both a original RC10 and a RC10CE. The RC10CE I plan to use as a vintage racer however it doesn't have a transmission. Will a B3 Stealth transmission work as long as I drill the holes in the chasis?

Nah it won't fit. You can still get everything new except the motor plate to build an original stealth trans. Or there's the RPM trans too.

Thanks! There are a couple stealths and MIP's on E-bay right now so I'll snap one of those. Unfortuantely I ordered the B3 tranny already :( Guess thats $30 down the drain.

i think ya could pretty easily get a b4 tranny in there too, sand the bottom off the tranny and mount it up.. should be fine lol.

just to add........................

awhile back, i was gonna put a b3 trans in an old tub, but never got around to it. from what i remember, the biggest issue you'd have is having to open up bulkhead so that the front of the trans can sit inside of it.... so to speak. but, that could cause issues with the battery. i got as far as setting the b3 trans in the chassis and thinking about what i'd need to do to make it work, but that's it.

I'll give the B3 a try. Guess I'll pull out the dremel and do some modifications. I did get a RC10 stealth tranny of ebay today so I at least have a backup. Hopefully this will turn out better than my vintage rebuid

Yeah if you hack out the centre of the bulkhead a bit for the B3 screw bit to sit in you should be able to get the trans sitting in the right spot. Then you could cut a hole in the chassis for the trans to sit in, I think it will use the standard rear stealth mounting holes. Only thing then is getting the motor plate to attach to the rear of the chassis and figuring out a substitute trans to bulkhead brace..

now that i'm thinking about it, there will be a problem with cutting the bulkhead out for thre trans to fit. the screws that attach the bulkhead to the chassis are right there. i think that's the reason i shelved the idea for another day.

Nah you'd just have to cut out a bit between the 2 bulkhead screws, the trans is narrow enough to fit between them and leave plenty of meat around the screws.
