My Project is completed. My RC12L Graphite Kit, ( I bought it unbuilt, unsealed ) It is dated to May of 87 per the catalog publishing date. I recently found a Corvette GTP body that was painted and stickered over 20 years ago. The original stickers needed a bit of working, and there were a few MINOR cracks near the front wheel wells from storage. There are no body-post holes. I decided to review and edit these original postings to this current showcase.

This is an early kit, with the 2 bolt front suspension, before the 3-post 10L arms were retrofitted into the 12L later kits. This is well documented in RCCA in the "top 10 cars" for 1990 article. As Correct for 1988, I am using Novak radio equipment, including their T1, NES1A servo, and NER2S Receiver. The Reedy Ultra Blue Dot (1/12 torque) is NEW, and the currently mounted SC1300s respond/charge well for testing. I added a NIP Associated front bumper to balance the car out for display. The kit's original wheels/tires were blackened from the tire glue. I left them in the brown box and used NIP Associated wheels front and rear, with NIP AJ's Goodyear tires with Kyosho specs.

This car has zero surface run time. The speed control, receiver, wiring and motor all test out PERFECT. This car is IN perfect condition, except the Novak servo does not work. ( I am looking for a working Novak servo to finish it off for vintage races )

Sweet ride...personally i would not leave the battery connected like that. The batteries may not have any charge left in them but I still would not take the chance of an incident.

Of course... That was a staged shot. The Battery is always disconnected on the Shelf. Only the motor remains plugged in. I really want to use period deans pins, or sermos connectors, but I dont want to take away the integrity of of the original T1 Speed control wires/connectors. Its amazing that the Tamiya style connectors still heat up during charging due to their HIGH resistance.

That is awsome, beautiful build fordtransman. The 12's are growing on me, I picked up a 12i not too long ago and currently sourcing parts like you did for nice well detailed restoration. Great job again recreating a great car. What esc(T1?) are you looking for? Might be able to help, pm me if you want.

I'm going to use these pics as inspiration for my 12L restoration.

I raced one of these back in '88 set up just like this, except for the use of 64 pitch gears and a rollover antenna. I have one question though...Why did you decide to mount the receiver on top of the steering servo instead of standing it on end behind the servo? Can you get the body low enough like this?

Thanks for the positive comments. The Current production 1/12 bodies are considerably LOWER then the early models. Mounting the receiver behind the servo would have been fine, however there were always concerns with radio interference when using carbon fiber/graphite chassis's on early radio equipment. As a shelf display, it sets off the car having such a large Novak label facing up. For competition use, it would be more productive to have components as low as possible on the chassis. Since I took these photos, I have put the new Associated wheels and AJ's Goodyear tires on the rear also. I will update photos soon!!
