Hi to everyone. I have not said much for a few months now but I wanted to update my collection for anyone that is interested. I just picked up 4 Ultimas today. They are in fair to good condition, but not perfect by any means(which is just fine by me). It will take years to complete everyone of them but Im in no hurry. I am currently restoring a few Turbo Optimas and a RC10 first gen.( making the RC10 into a daily racer). One of my 6 Ultimas will also be a racer. Anyway, hope you guys like my stuff! Thanks for looking. Ryan.

You should look for a turbo ultima chassis for your racer

Nice Turbo Optima. I just completed a restoration on my about 6 months back. I went a little different direction though. There's a thread here about it. I have 4 Ultimas in my collection too. One is a fully restored box-art Turbo Ultima.

Thanks for the comment... my Kyosho vintage racer will be an original stock Ultima(minus the ESC and motor of course), hence the 6 I bought lol. Maybe down the road I will move on to the "high tech" Ultima. Just something about those originals that gets my blood going, win or lose. Do you have lots of Turbo Ultima's Mr Ed? would love some pics! Thanks. Ryan.

The point of the turbo chassis is that it's much stronger but looks almost identic to the original chassis, just a bit thicker and little different colour. So this chassis will work fine with the original body.
Beside offering countersunk screw holes the main benefit is the the much improved torsional strength. Have you checked how many of the original chassis are really straight still? Most will be torded or have a funky kick-up.

not exactly turbo ultimas, but some of the ultima based creations I posted here earlier:

I see your point, but my friends still race the original chassis, and have for years. Its not going to win a world title, just having fun. I do like your updated bodies that you used, I always hated how cheap and thin the originals are(even worse after 22 years). Hell maybe I will have to do some custom job like yours some day, but for now I have some optimas to put back together.
