Early vs late losi junior series?

I was under the impression that the junior series was the entry level car/truck, with bushings rather than bearings. The only Junior I saw BITD was my brothers junior-2. it had a grey gearbox with those odd 2-part bushings for the diff and outdrives. I also remember them coming with a grey 32 pitch straight tooth spur gear.
I opened my NIP junior-T to start building(it was started by the previous owner, front bulkhead/tower/a-arms together, everything else is still in sealed bags.) I looked at the transmission and to my surprise the trans bag has a black gearcase, full bearings, and a red profiled 48 pitch spur gear. From what I can see in the sealed bags, the tierods are just threaded rod, no turnbuckles.
The chassis is the "flat" version of the molded chassis, without reliefs for the servo saver, and retro trans and without the built-up area around the antenna mount (see the 2 variations here:
http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3171 )
Looking closer at the manual online for the junior-2 it shows bearings in the trans, but the other manual posted is a combined truck/car manual which shows the bushings. I do not have a copy of a plain junior-T manual to compare(anybody got an extra?)
Does anyone know when they changed over? did all the changes happen at once or were they running changes?
any other interesting tidbits on the junior series?

my original junior-t was the same as the one your building. bearinged trans (says so right on the box, btw

) bushings on the axles. red 48p spur, chassis as you described. it was identical to the boxart. it had the jrx2 bulkhead and motorplate if i remember right, too.
the new built one i got a few years back on ebay has full bushings throughout. darker anodized shocks and motor plate, which says team losi. as does the front bulkhead. it has the servo saver relief and the raised area around the antenna mount. the rear tires are different on this one, too. i didn't get the box or the instructions for this truck, though. but, i do have the box ans instructions from my original.

hello All,
As far as I know, I got the first junior 2 kit in the Chicagoland area. The owner of the shop I worked at (what a jerk) was able to get stuff before anyone else. He was able to get a "complementary" junior 2 before it was even released to the public.
I was curious to see the new plastic chassis, so I bought the kit for like $75 (or what ever the shop cost was at the time). The version I had came with bearings in the transmission, a gray 32 pitch spur (don't remember the number of teeth) and a 15 tooth pinion. The shocks were the regular silver color and the bulkhead and motor plate still said jrx2.
Regards,
highwayracer

here's a pic of my original kits instructions. in the upper right corner, where it says 11 time national championships, norrca, roar, etc., it also says rcca car of the year : jrx2, jrxt, and jrx pro.
i thought that the junior 2/T came out before the pro? i guess i'm just trying to get an idea of how early of a kit my original one was. i know i got it in the summer of 91, and it says 1991 on the side of the box.

This video came with the truck. it has a copyright of 1991 on the tape as does the kit box.
The video goes step by step through the construction of the vehicle, explaining and showing how to build it with notes when the assembly differs between the car and truck. I watched bits of it a while ago but did not pay enough attention to remember any of the above parts variations on it.
Definately a neat video though.

I will have to look into how to do that. I only have 1 vcr, although I do have a semi-digital camcorder that I may be able to use to bridge the vcr to the PC. once I get them connected I'm a little fuzzy as to what to do then. I'd be happy to give it a go if anyone could give some guidance. I've got win XP (I can already hear doug laughing and saying "it would have been easier on a mac"

)
