Tekin re-wiring.

Hi guys,

Where can I get my Tekin ESC re-wired? I received one in a lot and it has had all its wires cut off! Does Tekin do new wire kits?

It's red and has Team Tekin Pro-tempfet ESC written on it. I am on Teamtekin.com and looking up the model and have emailed them about there service options. I just wondered if this is something they offered.

Cheers

Ed

Well, yes I thought I could do it myself, I am just trying to sort out the cables and plugs and everything else and I'd like it to be the Tekin wires if possible, that's why I asked if Tekin did it. I'll see how it goes and maybe they'll be able to hook me up with a new set of wires and plugs.

Thanks very much for your offer though. 8)

I would just email them and I'm sure they would be ready to ship you some new cables or maybe even better, do it for you at the factory...

Yep I have sent them an email I am just waiting for a reply. I just thought I'd ask here as I know Novak do wiring kits and I thought someone might have had it done and would say, oh, just get kit no.#8253832 or something that has all the wires you need.

Anyway, we'll see. Thanks a lot guys.

 :P :P

Even if the wires are snipped off at the case, there will still be remnants soldered to the board with the colors. From there you should be able to find info, either from Tekin or out on the web on Tekin wire color coding (i.e. green = hot, blue = not hot, purple = Teletubby ... )

Well I have got some replies from Tekin and a wiring kit is available so I think I'll get that. I was wondering though... I tried to get it working last night and I couldn't work out which were the on/off switch wires. It looks like this;

Image

Last night I tried to turn it on and set it up, but I couldn't work out which were the on/off switch wires and the manual isn't to clear. Basically there is no on switch and just the wires. By the motor and battery wires there are two small red wires and on the other side by the receiver wire there are two black wires. What are each of these for and which are the on/off switch wires?

Anyone familiar with this model and know what everything is?

Cheers

I'll dig out my old Tekin to confirm, but I recall the two black wires are the switch, the two red wires are for a FET boosted servo.

Thanks a lot for your info.

Hmmm. So, do any of these wires need to be kept separate to prevent shorting do you think? All have plain wire ends. Should I trim them back so there's no exposed wire? Can I just solder the switch wires together so it's always on? Or what would a vintage racer do?

I really need some working batteries to fully sort this thing out. :|

Trim any exposed inner wire from the FET leads, the switch wires can be connected, but a switch is more convenient...

I think most of the ESC's found wired permanently on resulted from the switch failing...

Ok and it is for sure, red = FET and black = on/off switch?

I just don't want to muck it up. Thanks a lot.
