We need a "The Worst" body painting poll.

Post by 80sRunner »

I did this Protech body when I was about 12yrs old. I used the modern technique of painting on the top.

PM me for painting services.

I don’t have a picture, but I painted my USA-1 body back in the day. Came out really nice, except I used the wrong paint and it started flaking off almost immediately. Ended up having to paint the outside.

We'll see what happens when I paint my RC10 body here in a few days. Waiting for humidity to not be 100%.

This is the car that goes with this body.

I cleaned it up a bit and corrected a few things during COVID.

My favorite car that I have.

I painted this today. First time. Its an old body and has flaws before painting even started. I may need to look into this liquid mask stuff. Using tape is a pain in the A$$.

I use the Tamiya masking tape for the lines, then blue painters tape for bulk coverage.

And always do a real light coat first. It reduces bleeding.

I used blue 3M masking tape and didn't experience too much bleeding. The hard part was doing the second color (white) where I had to mask off the orange. The tape was messy and left some gaps I couldn't see, so overspray snuck into some areas. It was dry over spray, so could be wiped out but I didn't do a good wipe before I did the white.
