Pro4 SC10 - been craving a basher truck

I love my buggies but I've been wanting a bashable truck for a while now. Something I can take out to a park that is rugged and has a sealed driveline and can also bash around with Slashes at the track. I considered building a kit, maybe Tekno truck, or picking up a Typhon buggy but I didn't want to spend what it costs to build up a decent truck from a kit ($750+) and my track doesn't allow anything larger than 1/10th scale and 2S. The hobby shop staff recommended Traxxas Slash VXL, which is a safe choice, but it runs $380 for a 2wd truck. The 4x4 Slash VXL is $400 and has no center diff. The Pro4 SC10 is $339, has 4wd, and a center differential.
I special ordered the SC10 instead of going home with a Traxxas or Arrma that day. I must admit I began to question my decision while I was waiting for the truck to arrive. I picked it up today and now I'm glad I waited. This thing is a beast. The tires seem intended for pavement and concrete and that's where I ran it today. On full throttle rips it just squats and takes off, tracking straight with very little input and no drama. Braking is the same, the nose drops and it scrubs off speed in a straight line. I tried to upset it with full brakes and aggressive steering inputs but it just pushes and rotates slowly. It has tremendous front end grip and turns in well even at speed and on throttle. Really it has a little too much grip as it's pretty easy to induce traction roll when you are just trying to spin the back end around and do some donuts.
I've picked up some pro-line wheels and smoothie-2s for track days. For bashing I'll keep the stock tires for now and will have to research decent tires for loamy dirt, sand and turf.
After next week I've got some time off and should be able to get out to the track for a couple days. I am really looking forward to banging fenders with the other trucks instead of dodging them in my buggies.
