Kyosho MOONEYES Street Van and Nitro Blizzard

Post by Dangeruss »

Kyosho was making nitro wishes come true with the MOONEYES Street Van and Nitro Blizzard in this Aladdin's Tale ad from 1998:

MOONEYES Street Van: 1/10 4wd Nitro on-road model released in 1998. Tribute to the MOONEYES vans created by the speed parts company opened by Dean Moon in 1950. Heavily based on Kyosho's Field Baja Beetle. Aluminum pan chassis with side rail kickups. Street Van specific front & rear bulkheads, shock towers, upper deck, and steering plate. Lower a-arm/fixed plastic camber link 4-wheel independent suspension, knuckles, hubs, servo saver twin bellcrank adjustable tie rod steering and oil-filled plastic bodied ring lock coilover shocks sourced from the Field Baja Beetle. 4wd system was a combination of 'Van and 'Beetle parts. Kyosha's QRC (Quick Reverse Clutch) transmission laid down to facilitate a much lower ride height. Shaft driven, bevel gear differentials in the front, rear, and center sealed gearcases. Dogbone driveshafts and axles, Street Van specific white plastic wheels & aluminum Moon Disc style wheel covers, 76/36/60 Kyosho treaded rubber street tires. Clear lexan Chevrolet Astro van body, chrome bumpers and side pipes, large plastic under bumper, sealed receiver box, flip-top gas tank, GS-11X engine with muffler included in the unassembled kit, sold less radio.

Nitro Blizzard: 1/12 nitro powered tracked vehicle released in 1998. Stamped aluminum chassis with aluminum side plates & torsion spring suspension. A pinion and spur primary drive connected to the two-speed transmission with Kyosho's QRC (Quick Reversing Clutch) technology. Steering via two servo actuated linkages connected to a pair of disk brakes, one on each side of the plastic drive axle, itself containing a bevel gear differential inside a sealed gearcase. Rubberized plastic tracks and aluminized plastic wheels, four road wheels and one chain tension adjusted drive wheel per side. A two-piece clear lexan Snow Cat style body, fan cooled, pull start GS-11X engine, muffler and flip top fuel tank. Almost ready to run kit, sold less radio:
