Very cool video. 👍 Was thinking the same thing, can't understand 'em, but they look like they're having a blast. Pretty lineup of cars too. The one at 15:40 and 19:00 with the mechanical speed controller, AM receiver, and lipo battery was cool. Liked the tight track and how quiet it was, no announcer trying to act like he's trying to call a horse race or lap timing system blabbing and bonging away.

Just an FYI, only the video ID... 9WV4lWFgOkw ...goes between the bracketed BB code, like... youtube 9WV4lWFgOkw /youtube (hope that didn't sound rude )

I fixed that tag, thanks.

Thanks to google translate I was able to look at the webpage.
Apparently this track uses 380 motors to limit performance and keep races casual.

The motors are great looking. I think I would want to order some.

There's a lot of videos of racing at that track. I can't understand what they say and that makes it better than 99% of crap on YouTube in my book. I see guys having fun and I am jealous they have many type events like that all over Japan, racing, but not so to speak.

At ~11:48 someone lost an e-clip  They are clearly doing the old "fod walk" I learned in my Air Force days. :D

It's like elimination racing! There was a buggy that flipped over and got left that way as an obstacle! I also saw reverse get used. Very excellent track and participants. I did understand a little bit of what they said. My language skills must be better than I thought. I clearly heard "B4" .

In YouTube you can set the (CC button) to automatically translate from Japanese to English. It makes something that looks like it makes sense.

The motors look rad. Stickered up show queens can't emulate respect, but we all know more than one motor was sold back in the day because you looked at it and said, "THAT ONE looks awesome!!"

Extremely curious after your first post, because the motors look cool and thirty bucks shipped isn't really expensive, I messaged RcMart through eBay because they sell all the Pine Beach stuff there to ask about the wind/turn count on the motors, and after a few days of waiting I received... crickets. Nada. As in, nada word. So tonight I emailed Pine Beach directly... and inside of an hour I got a response... All the motors are the same wind, but they won't say what it is. Just said they're a little faster than a Grasshopper motor and only differ based on pinion pitch/tooth count and if they came with wires or not.

But, while I was on their website... https://shop.pbrw.net for those who don't know, but care deeply... :P ...I found some cool info. Like, the track runs around all the trees because the land it's built on is a windbreak and they couldn't cut any of them down. And the 380 motors lower the cost of maintaining the track, because "Soil is quite expensive to buy"... that is if you believe their R/C hobby propaganda.

Those little motors might not have the power of a 540 but... take a look at the first IFMAR Off-Road Worlds... Del Mar wasn't that much bigger than Pine Beach, and if you compare the back stretch speeds of both tracks, those 380's don't look slower...

Great video and one of the few of actual racing that I watch right through, usually I skip over them because modern arcing videos are of people nudging unguided missiles around the track. It's going to appeal to us old timers as the RC10s are running at the same sort of speeds we all used to race at back in the day, where one wrong move wouldn't destroy your car.

A lot of their setup is due to their circumstances, having to feed a track through the trees. Notice they protect the trees from damage with skateboard decks, none of this wooden fence nonsense. Imagine telling modern racers that the track they are going to race on is in between trees, with no straight, and that the track will come down to 2 feet wide in places. The Chonmage race format they have devised means there's a lot more luck involved if you win, rather than the spend all week setting up your buggy and throw every option part at it to make it as fast as possible so you take the racing more seriously to justify your investment. There's already a race series running this summer using this 380 motor format here in the UK. They also plan to race Tamiya wheelies, although I can't see many of those managing to last the race if there's no marshaling of those. If anyone wants to now the rules of the Chonmage format, here's Atsuhi Hara to explain them.

I do like the Japanese RC culture a lot. You have Atushi Hara and Masami Hirosaka entering races using basic Tamiya buggies. I can't imagine many top racers posting pictures on social media of the Tamiya Lunchbox and Grasshopper they have bought like Hara did. Clubs holding meetings based around one make, and everyone turning up with that buggy because even the racers have a collection of cars over there. Imagine one of our clubs suggesting next week we want everyone to run a Tamiya Hornet and drivers actually turning up with them to race for fun. Even in the vintage scene here there's plenty of serious racers who have been developing and racing the same car for 5+ years.

And I've already made a start on getting together parts for a Chonmage buggy

That was awesome! That's the way I want to race.

Very simple but clever way to eliminate the need for a scoring system and marshalls.

Hara's samurai hat

Thank you so much for posting that video. Hearing the Chonmage format rules explained shows it's an absolutely fantastic racing format. It feels like a solid template for backyard, parking lot or park based pop-up rc racing.

Very cool video, that one. Fun to see all the cars on the table up close.

Though, I was 100% positive from 2:00 to 4:00 they were making fun of " 'Mericans speaka turrible Japanisium" so I turned on CC and... yep, they were harshing on the Japanisium hardcore.

After some of what they were saying... Get a scotch? Go to bed? Get your wife or girlfriend and take the third step?? ...I couldn't help myself...

Yep, does say to get a Scotch... or a burbon... or a Coke... because you're going All American!
Get A Drink.JPG

Sleepless nights should be blamed on your boss or school... not Yokomo...
Go To Sleep.JPG

Ahh... third HAND... not "third step"... whew...
Third Hand.JPG

So, apparently 'Mericans DO speaka turrible Japanisium! ...or is it 'Mericanisium? 🤔

At the beginning of the manual it illudes to the translations being for the sake of humor so... funny stuff.
