In 1996 Kyosho updated its Sandmaster 1/10 2wd off-road nitro siblings, now called the Sandmaster MK II (buggy) and Sandmaster ST-II (truck). Essentially the same as the previous generation which was based on the Outrage 1/10 2wd electric off-road platform the pair retained the same molded Kelron chassis and 4-wheel independent suspension with short lower a-arms from the Kyosho Ultima paired to fixed camber links while twin bellcranks with a built-in servo saver and fixed tie rods completed the steering system. A forward brace attached the steering to the bulkhead for additional chassis stiffness and new bright yellow oil filled plastic bodied coilover Sport Shocks were installed on both models with the Stadium Truck receiving longer versions than the buggy. The most significant upgrade was the larger GX-12 pull start engine which as connected via a pinion and spur primary drive to the bevel gear differential equipped transmission. The remainder of the wheels (now pink on the buggy), tires, bodies, flip top gas tank, muffler, metal dogbone axles and other accessories were left unchanged. Both kits were sold 90% assembled with bushings, less radio:
