Is it possible to start a ys61st helicopter motor by hand? The motor is out of the helicopter and mounted to a table. I can get the motor to pop, flame up, backfire, dump out fuel, and pop repeatedly by hand but It just won't pop off and run. I've used a 20v Dewalt drill to spin the shaft with much less success than using my finger to spin the shaft by the metal fan fins. The drill usually just makes the motor dump fuel out the exhaust or spray out the carb. I should mention I have the muffler removed due to not being able to mount the motor to my table with the exhaust installed. I've set the needles to the factory settings, tried adjusting them and have fresh fuel. Is a 12v starting wand the only way to start one of these?

I'd see if you can get a prop put on that thing, you can then use a "chicken stick" to flip it over. I've never had luck with a drill. You will need a starter and a wand once it's in the heli anyway, might be a good time to invest in one if you plan on running the heli. If you're just trying to make sure the engine will run, then I go back to my prop recommendation and a chicken stick which is just a wooden dowel with some rubber tubing on it. Also make sure you are starting it the right direction- counterclockwise facing the front of the engine.

Thank you. Yeah im just trying to make sure it's gonna run. As much as I'd love to fly the heli, it probably will not happen. If i ever do fly it, it won't be any time soon. I've got alot of learning to do and need a ton of equipment.
