Hey all!
So, my little history with RC. Back in the early 90s I got a Championship Edition RC10 Gold Pan. I didn't have (or didn't know about) a track nearby, so it spent time running around a nearby parking lot. I managed to slam into a curb pretty hard, and broke one of the rear arm mounts. While replacing that, I decided to take the opportunity to make some upgrades, primarily ball bearings over the factory bushings. I either ran into an issue, ran out of money (min wage back then was like $3.25/hr and I was working part time, of course, being in school), or perhaps simply got distracted by some other shiny thing. Long story short, the car sat in a box, disassembled until I dug it out in the summer of 2024.
I spent a lot of time and money tracking down vintage screw packs and such on ebay. But, once I had it all back together, it was great to see the old car zipping up and down the street again!
Now, I DO have a very nice track nearby with indoor and outdoor tracks to run on. But I am super paranoid about wrecking and breaking my old beauty again. So, I picked up an RB10, with an eye of using it at the track. (That's also when I discovered that TA is now selling 'vintage' parts and putting out the Re-Release cars, of Course!)
Anyway, I tend to jump in with both feet on hobbies, so before long I got one of those super cool tiny Losi Micro Bs. I got my 9 yo daughter a 'matching' little 1/24 Serpent Spyder, and we love running these little cars together! The track has an indoor carpet track, and has a TT02 division, so I picked up a TT02R chassis kit, and worked up the body to match my Real Subaru. And that way I have a shaft drive 4WD on road car. And I kept eyeing a B74.2 Championship car. I always wanted a 4WD RC10, but of course, they didn't exist back then, and still didn't. But man, the 74.2 is awesome, but $$$$, and like...seems overkill for parking lot runs and the occasional lap at the track on a practice night.
And then the 4WD re-release came out. Is it a re-release? I mean, ... isn't it more like the first 'new' RC10 design in like...25 years? I had to have one! Pre-Ordered on the first day. Which is good cause it sold out. But I think they are running this one for a while, so not a limited edition deal.
(I have a build thread going for it in the re-release forum)
Anyway, that build is going well. I need to get the RB to the track more often and maybe even try to run in some of the races. And I'm looking forward to taking the 4WD there as well. And trying out carpet with the TT02. And heck, the Old Gal really deserves a lap or two herself...
