Tamiya nuts, A bit of advice if you can?

I have a Tamiya Avante in awesome condition.. it has been restored to the highest standards (mine!). Virtually every part is new, anything that isn't has been cleaned and restored and this car is everybit as good as a new built. The only downsides are some tiny marks to the bottom of the front gearbox (you have to look hard to notice them - it is not scratched up. It is missing the front turnbuckle that braces the front shock mounts and the driver - these could easily be put right I'm sure.

It has the correct motor, but no radio gear.

The thing is, as lovely as this buggy is, I'm not really a Tamiya Guy and it just sits in a box! What I really want is an HPI Baja, so I'm thinking of selling the Avante and getting a Baja.

What is it worth? Should I source the turnbuckle and driver before selling? Best on the bay or somewhere like Tamiyaclub? DO you think someone would swap for a Baja?? Questions Questions.. Any answers would be appreciated guys!

I don't know what the tamiya market is like, but it has been shown several times with losi and AE cars that the sum of the parts is worth much more than the whole. It is not a fun thing to do after restoring a car, but parting it out may likely net you the most in the end.

your best bet is ebay. you'll probably get around $700-$900 but take about 12% off for ebay and paypal fees

Well subject to more details if needed and pics I will take offers first from here I guess. Then move to the bay. $700 - $900 is Baja money which is good

Hehe.. If my Nitros annoy the neighbors already, they may lynch me if I get a Baja.. Bring it on!

I reckon Sho is bang on as far as value is concerned whether it be UK, Europe or America £350 to £450 is where it should end up, put it on TC for £475 or best offer and see what happens, you can always lower the price and relist it every 14 days until someone bites. If you need someone to host the add for you I would be happy to help

What a pretty car. I would totally go for the Baja! If you can sell outside of ebay, you'll keep some cash. Ebay should change their name to RapeBay.

Someone got a great deal on this one! It actually lasted for an hour on eBay.

I did scoop up one of these to round out the complete collection. Still looking for the green frog, already have the pink frog, hornet, grasshopper, booomerang, and Hot Shot.

Wouldn't it be sweet to have one as a Gold Tub? Hmmm, gives me an idea.

I always like that car. The Avante and the Fox were 2 of my fav. tamiya cars when i first picked up the mags and started reading. Very impressive indeed.

It is a LOVELY car - very pretty in the way that an RC10 is perhaps not..

As a racer at heart though - racing cars are what I collect, not these pretty, but probably more desirable cars.
