In 1988 Kyosho released the Turbo Ultima, a 1/10 2wd electric off-road racing buggy to follow up the previous year's Ultima buggy. As the Turbo Ultima was an evolution it used the same slender formed aluminum chassis, now hard anodized, and molded EX66 nylon component construction as the previous Ultima, which included the front bulkhead and lower a-arms, however the camber links were upgraded from fixed to adjustable versions while the inline carriers and knuckles were retained. Guiding the car was the same twin bellcrank steering system with adjustable tie rods, built-in servo saver and front sway bar all tucked under a new black fiberglass radio plate that held the transverse mounted battery and remaining electronics while acting as chassis stiffening upper deck as well. Mirroring the front end, out back was a lower a-arm and now adjustable camber link suspension, with the addition of a rear sway bar, connected to the chassis by the rear bulkhead and axle stopper. New black fiberglass shock towers front and rear doubled as upper camber link mounts and supported a set of Kyosho's new Platinum, adjustable dampening, oil-filled, aluminum bodied coilover shocks with adjustable collars. At the tail end an aluminum rear guard again protected the motor which bolted to the aluminum motor plate on the transmission and delivered go-power through a new ball differential out to a pair of metal universal axles and past the nylon hub carriers before spinning a set of silver disk style nylon wheels with Bridgestone 340-30/20 Sand Super square block rear tires and 185-20/60 Sand Super rib tires up front. A updated clear lexan body with wing and wing tubes, mini front bumper, Heavy Duty mechanical speed controller, LeMans 240ST motor and full bearing set completed the unassembled kit which was sold less radio:
