My most wild creation yet trying to utilize modern (available) drivetrain (Exotek DR10M 3 gear all metal transmission) and front mount servo setup (drag specific) for the ultimate is front weight bias.

Picked up the final piece of the puzzle thanks to Andy Jacobson slinging some classic styling on the 200mm C6 body 💪🏻

Underneath that awesome lid is a prototype Nostalgic RC Team Associated RC10DS Mid Mount conversion kit built for max effort, with the help of Squishy Racing (4 pole motor) and Knuckle UP RC Products (2s drag battery) we’re looking forward to some low low 1 second runs at well over 100mph (132’) in this lightweight full suspension 3 gear updated classic 🚀🚀🚀

My sons T2.4

New built T2, slightly modernized for vintage racing. My son started vintage racing with a truck I built and sold BITD and he wanted to run more than one class so we built this. It's scary fast for what it is

Allow me to present my PB Mini Mustang, as raced in the recently-completed Vintage Bash V3 down here at the Knox offroad track, Melbourne Australia. No shelf queen here!
MIniMustang.jpg
Has installed a silver can motor as per the class rules, matched to a Hobbywing 1060 ESC. Radio gear is basic FlySky 2.4G transmitter and receiver, with a HPI SS-20WR servo for grunt.
MIniMustang2.jpg
This car is so many things.... the body was painted the night before 2022's Bash V1, but I had an awful time at that event, to the point where I sold off all my PB Mini Mustangs and parts to my good friend Jason / Bor Mac. At Bash V2, Jason presented this Mini Mustang back to me as a gift, which I then proceeded to break while doing some fun runs.

The buggy sat half-disassembled for most of last and this year, and then was put together during Day 2 of this year's Bash V3, ready for Day 3. On the morning of Day 3, the car wouldn't turn and wouldn't go, with a different ESC (smoke came out), servo (too weak), and NiMH battery (not enough go) all needing replacing. So a huge overhaul was accomplished trackside, with help from my team of Robs, and the car was rebuilt for the final.

Car completed the final, and was a blast to drive, reminding me of just how much fun these cars were back in the day.... although losing a dog bone made things harder than they needed to be. Luckily, the rare aftermarket bone was found by a marshall, and the car is back together again, ready for next year ;)

Finally, the body wears a pair of yellow "In Memory" panda decals, in memory of my good friend and vintage RC stalwart Willy Chang. Willy was supposed to be at Bash V2 last year, but was too sick in hospital, subsequently passing away at the end of last year. Sadly missed by all who knew him.... fair thee well, Panda Man.

It may look like a RC10 but it's actually a 1/24 scale NRC-24

I modified this one to use Proline oil filled shocks and made some 5 spoke wheels to match most of my 1/10 fleet. Really fun little build, some video of me driving it before the paint change.

Here's my build for this years VONATS, it started life as a nitro GT i picked up from a guy on the GT fb groups and i kinda went ham on it lol, i made the shock towers with slight geometry changes to accommodate the length change in the Yokomo big bore shocks, made a motor mount, battery mount, trans brace and any other piece you can see in carbon fiber. the chassis was powder coated by me as well. its got a number of hop up parts on it too (MIP t3 light weight slipper, cvds, a&l steering, and im sure more that i cant think of off the top of my head. the truck was a BEAST on track but in the mains i ran into a little bad luck. with 30 seconds to go i had just taken 3rd place when my wheel nut came off and the tire slid off the drive pin, i was beyond mad hahaha, but i still had a great time!

This won't have the cool factor of the custom builds I've seen win in the past, but most of my builds are box art/build manual style, and this is the first one I documented the build on here. Thought it was fitting to have it be the first I submitted for BOTM.

The RC10 B2 was my second ever hobby grade kit, and was an exciting upgrade from the World's Car I raced before it. This one meant a lot to build, and I was happy to share it with you all.

Jay Halsey tribute kit
AYK 240r motor
Titan Pro-x esc
Full sealed bearing kit (sans front wheels, the black tribute wheels use a bigger 3/8 OD bearing, which neither Myself nor the vender new, so those are in route)
Modern receiver and Savox servo to be able to run it safely!
The body is painted close to the original but using the lighter blue and the orange accent on the left side to make it my own.
This was actually my first new in box RC10! I raced 1/10 onroad for a long time before doing off-road, and mostly raced Losi buggy’s, but built and raced a few 10L’s and 10T’s, helped my best friend as a kid build his RC10, and aquired a handful of used or disassembled RC10s over time that I’ve built and raced or just played with. This was really cool for me, I had just gotten finished letting my 11 year old son “actually assemble” his rc car for the first time (Nova Fox because my first was a Fox of course 😜) so when I got my hands on this, it was like being a kid myself again! Sorry for the nostalgia lol but thanks for looking guys!!

Trey

Best BOTM write up ever. Cool buggy, cool history, still racing it, buddies helping keep it on track, a tribute to a fallen comrade....dammit I got something in my eye! Oh no, both eyes!

Godspeed Panda Man!
