In 1988 Gil Losi and his son Gil Jr. entered the world of RC car manufacturing with the introduction of the JRx2 1/10 2wd off-road buggy. Designed to be a complete racing solution that did not required the purchase of aftermarket components to be race ready, the JRx2 came fully tricked out. Constructed primarily of lightweight molded composite plastic the JRx2 was underpinned by a graphite pan style chassis with molded in 20-degree kickup. The front suspension would consist of a lower a-arm and turnbuckle camber link setup connecting the front bulkhead to the spindle/carrier assemblies, with steering via a turnbuckle adjustable bellcrank arrangement. Rear suspension duties were handled by a unique 5-link design with each rear hub carried attached by two lower links leading inwards to the rear bulkhead and pivot support, a turnbuckle upper camber link, and two trailing links leading forwards to a side bulkhead, all to provide greater suspension movement with less binding. Supporting the buggy at all four corners were long anodized aluminum oil-filled coilover shocks with adjustable collars supported by graphite shock towers front and rear. The 2.18 transmission was a 48 pitch, ball-diff equipped, self-lubricating design with an aluminum motor mount and telescoping universal joint driveshafts. Nylon five spoke wheels with ribbed front and knobby rear tires rolled on a full complement of bearings and the unassembled kit, sold without radio or electronics, was topped off by a clear lexan body:
