Picked this up off of ebay last week. In better condition in some ways and worse in others based on the description and photos. Pretty excited to clean this up into a runner. Will post progress as it is made.

Disassembled the truck and ran most of if through the ultrasonic cleaner. Need to review everything and determine whats needs replacing.
Filled the holes in the pan with some epoxy, not that happy with it and might 3d print some plugs to glue in to fill them instead.
The car had some novel DIY rear camber links.

The black plastics looked a bit faded so I soaked them in Meguiars Ultimate Black for a day. Hard to see in the photos but everything looks darker than before.

Polished up the hinge pins and shock rods and cleaned up the front axles. One of the axles is badly worn and will need to get replaced.

Looking good. The Losi XX platform is so iconic and still very capable. Shame about the worn front axle but everything else looks to be progressing well. It should be a great runner.

Started assembling today.
Was surprised that the KNK hardware kit was metric also many of the screws are button heads and not cap heads. Liking the kit overall the stainless doesnβt look out of place.
The Dragonpunch RC Ti ballstuds are a great bit of kit, very nicely machined.
Was glad to fine new old stock front axles and pretty excited to see how the Blue Ti turnbuckles will look.
Also might go back and replace the front bulkhead with a 3d printed one in yellow nylon.
Will continue post pics as I make progress.

Got more assembly done this evening. Turnbuckles look great. Using a Losi steering bearing kit and the action on the steering is awesome. Noticed there is a bit of slop where the caster block and control arms connect, I might try making some shims.
Hate how discolored the bell cranks are and might model them up and print new ones at some point.

They aren't really that discolored the nylon they used for those was always a bit darker than the bulkhead. It's the same stuff they used for the XX-4 steering horns, intent was that they flex rather than break.

Good to know, thanks.

Yes, the dirty yellow color is how they all are. If you want to change it, you can pretty easily dye them and the front bulkhead black with some Rit Dye. It provides a clean, stealthy look.
Great build. I'm looking forward to seeing it completed.

Assembled the rear suspension tonight and new tires arrived.
Using jconcepts carvers in the front and drop steps in the back. Really want to find a fresh pair of rear wheels. Might try to make my own new lexan dishes for the rear since the ones i have are pretty trashed.
The new old stock MIPS cvds and fresh bearings are super smooth and nearly no slop at all.

Built the diff and trans last night. Turned out very smooth. Used a new diff hardware kit, new diff balls, fast eddy bearings and installed a Ti top shaft by HG i found on ebay.
