In 1984 Team Associated entered the off-road racing segment, creating the most popular model they would ever produce; a 1/10th scale 2WD electric buggy called, the RC10. In a class of scale appearing single seat buggies the RC10 was a purpose-built race car. It's gold anodized, deeply formed aluminum tub style chassis with detachable nosepiece featured aluminum hardware flush mounted to the underside. Nylon bulkheads would attach the four-wheel independent suspension which, in a first for Associated, would be fully adjustable at all four corners for caster, camber, and toe via threaded steel rods with nylon ball ends. Ride height and dampening were also adjustable through the long travel aluminum bodied, oil filled coil over shocks with nylon spring collars fixed to the chassis by fiberglass plate style shock towers front and rear. Steering was accomplished by one piece nylon steering blocks with steel axles connecting the threaded steel rods and nylon ball ends to servo saver equipped bell cranks with mounts to fit a variety of steering servos. Power was transferred via pinion and spur to a six-gear transmission housed in a nylon case with Associated's Verilock ball differential and a gold anodized aluminum motor plate. Dog bone style axles connected the transmission to the wheels, the latter of which were three piece molded nylon, with wide knobby rubber tires in the rear and narrow ribbed rubber tires up front. A clear polycarbonate Funco style Protech body was supplied with the kit which was offered in multiple unassembled configurations from bushing and no electronics up to full bearings and complete electronics less radio:
